A candidate for the American presidency is a mind-blowing egotist? Egad! I am shocked! Shocked! Fetch me the smelling salts, for my knees do buckle!

The article’s right though; Obama’s flavor of egotism is a little different than the norm. It’s less of the “Kneel before Zod” flavor (e.g., Rudy Giuliani) or “Affable Car-Salesman Frontman” flavor (e.g., G.W. Bush, Mitt Romney) as has been common over the last few elections, and more of the “I am awesome, and therefore should be President, goddammit.”

(It’s akin to the Fred Thompson ego-style, “I exude down-home charm, and that’s all a president needs, so elect me, ’cause I’m a minor teevee star, and therefore, awesome.”)

Politics is like a Whitman’s Sampler of ego. So many tastes to choose from! Mmmmm…

Wow. Yet another wasted non-political article that can’t challenge any real ideals of the candidate, but rather the man itself because [shock] he thinks he has the personal integrity to lead 300 million people.[/shock]

Isn’t that the kind of ego we would expect to come with an applicant?

Yeah. Zenrage? It’s time to stop being a condescending ass. I know! I know! It’s SO much fun; I’ve indulged more than once myself; but the simple fact of the matter is that this is not an article. This isn’t a forum for political debate. This is one guy’s blog, and he can say whatever he bloody well likes. He doesn’t need to start a deep conversation every time he opens the damned window, and he’s not here to entertain you, or your staggering superiority complex.

So please, please, for the love of whatever deity you care to worship, shut up forever.

Passingthrough, I’m fairly sure that Zen was commenting on the article I linked to rather than my blog post.

And honestly: I like debate, and encourage it most of the time. I don’t always agree with Zen (his reimagining of the Fantastic Four left me cold, for one), but I’d rather have lots of strident opinions than none if it’s an either/or choice.

Obama will sell us all to the robot hordes if elected. It will be the end of the rule of meat-sacks. You can quote me on that shit.
