Well, if they didn’t have Matthew, then they’d have Jon Lovitz’s character . . . and I couldn’t stand him.
If Phil Hartman had lived and Jon Lovitz were only replacing Andy Dick, that would have been great.
I’d take that trade, but I really can’t emphasize how much I didn’t enjoy Lovitz on that show.

Lurker, IIRC Matthew got fired instead of Carl, but they were able to get him back eventually.
