I’ll take exception to your argument on the second image. The document is clearly marked 1964, which you conveniently cropped off.
So, a bureaucrat filled in the form marked Republic of Kenya in 1964 as that was the appropriate form to use at that time.
The real problem is that this is a copy, which as we know from the Hawaii Birth Certificate, is apparently not worth anything.
I challenge the birthers to come up with the original document, because that is where you set the bar.
There’s also people online who are noting the document looks like an Australian birth certificate done up to look like a Kenyan document. That can be easily rectified by contacting the appropriate persons in Kenya and looking at how their documents were set up in 1961 (or 1964… and why would we trust a document supposedly typed up 3 years after Obama’s birth anyway?) and see if they match.
Another thing, there are names of persons of authority – the registrars – attached to this form. I’d call any of the libraries in Kenya or any library in the U.S. with a strong African Studies dept. with Kenya historical materials and see if there’s a government directory archived back to 1961-64 that would list officials and see if registrars were covered. I’d also contact the registrar’s office in Kenya and see if those persons are still around (unlikely) or if people can verify who were registrars during those years (more likely).

No kidding. Also, not just the original document, but the original “long form” document. I mean, how can anyone begin to assume this is the real thing without having at least three state officials and five independent eye witnesses to confirm it.

chris: The document may be dated February 17, 1964–three months after Kenya gained its independence–but Kenya didn’t become a _Republic_ until December 12, 1964.
So, even post-dated as it is, it STILL shouldn’t say “Republic of Kenya”! (Rather, for Feb. 1964, it should say “Dominion of Kenya”)
I haven’t verified it for myself, but I’ve been told that the name of the registrar on this certificate (“E.F. Lavender”) is coincidentally the name of a popular Kenyan laundry detergent.

Clara, to be fair, McCain is a citizen…a law passed a year after he was born made him so…..so he’s just technically naturally born.

Obviously, the Nazis did not win World War II, or Kenya couldn’t have achieved independence. When the Nazis win, they win it all.

After all, they list his mother as being born in Wichita, Kansas, and unless she had renounced her American citizenship (which I’ve yet to hear ANYone claim she did), that automatically makes him the child of an American citizen and thus a natural-born American citizen.
rdfox, the latest birther opinion is that both parents need to be American for a child to be a citizen. Convieniently forgetting, of course, their own outrage a couple years back about ‘anchor babies’.

For the record, both of Andrew Jackson’s parents were immigrants, so the precedent has been set that neither parent needs to be a U.S. citizen.
To clarify about Andrew Jackson- he was born when America was a British colony and grandfather in with all other Americans who were born before America was indepent. Read Article Two of the American Consitution. History rocks!
The precedent for foreign father is actually Chester A. Arthur: his father was still Irish at the time of his birth and didn’t get US citizenship until ten years later. There was even someone complaining Arthur was secretly born in Ireland! Arthur had his own problem with citizenship issues, with critics claiming he was born in Canada (his family’s Vermont farm was right on the border).

That’s not actually true. Under then-current citizenship law, Ms. Dunham was too young to automatically transmit citizenship. If the moonbats were right and he was born in Kenya, he wouldn’t be eligible to be president.
