Never bring a stick to a sword fight.

I’m relatively sure that there’s a human instinct buried deep down in us that tells us that long sticks are /good/. That holding them in our hand like a tool is good. Factor in usual childhood fascination with swordfights, and you’ve got an almost elemental pleasure using both our more complex thought patterns and our base instincts.

Man I love pretend swords.

I dunno, ps238, the native cultures of the Philliines brought sticks to a sword and gun fight with Magellan, and they came out ahead.

Well, That Guy, what you had there was under 50 people on Magellan’s side, and a Zerg Rush of over a thousand guys on the native side.

Even if Magellan’s forces had access to automatic weapons, they probably wouldn’t have come out on top.

Sword shaped sticks are a Good Thing, until it’s my sister with an axe handle…

It’s too bad there aren’t enough trashcans with metal lids anymore so you could also have a shield.

And anyday you can sword fight with another person, it’s an awesome day.

This is why you should get a twitter account – stuff like this is not /really/ worthy of a whole blog post but definitely needs to be shared with the world.

As long as you fight the urge to twitter every single, mundane thing you do it’s a pretty useful communication device.
