“Raising Hope” was pretty excellent. And I liked the little nod to the creator’s last show in the newscast…

As somebody who emphasize with Heroes a little too much, a part of me wants No Ordinary Family to fail miserably. As for Chiklis in that genre? I think his previous high was in the episode of Robot Chicken, where Vic from The Shield switched worlds with Ben Grimm and shot Dr. Doom point blank in the face. Good times.

When did “Skeet Ulrich” equal “acting firepower”?

“Raising Hope” was damn funny. I got me a six-month old daughter right now, and the “get the baby to sleep” montage captured the flavor of it just right. Plus the strange realignment of one’s life when one goes from “aimless dorkwad” to “father,” and the unexpected richness it provides. Plus, vomit.

My big fear is that it’ll go sappy-stupid, as the creator’s last show, “My Name Is Earl,” did after the first season or two. That one started great, and lost steam all too quickly. When it was good, man, was it great.

I’ve barely seen any TV since last Spring, so I have no idea what most of the new shows this season are. When I saw your headline earlier, I had never heard of Raising Hope. But I did hear of Running Wilde and I thought I might like it, so I turned on FOX tonight. I saw most of Raising Hope without having any idea what it was, but it was brilliant. I had to look up the new schedule on the the internet afterward to find out what I’d just seen, and then I recognised the title from seeing your headline on here earlier.

Wow. That is a great show. I love Martha Plympton (always have) and I love Garfunkle & Oates (yes, that’s a real band) so when I spotted ‘Oates’ I was even more thrilled.

You could have mentioned Kate Miccuci was in it.

I’m just saying.

PVR’ed!

My Name Is Earl was brilliant, and cut down too quickly, part of Zucker’s plan to murder NBC. Raising Hope is MNIE as written by a new father. Aside from my visceral “fatherhood is not nearly as magical as you think” childless reaction, it is fully three-quarters Rex the Wonder Dog.

It IS brilliant! I didn’t intend to watch, but I had Glee on for my daughter and it started playing before I got around to changing the channel. Best accidental discovery I’ve made in a long time.
