Please let me never see Rob Ford make a naked grab for anything, much less for power.

(BLLARRRRFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!)

On the positive side, there are those new Ipsos-Reid polls that say Smitherman can beat Ford head-to-head. Thomson’s gone, so let’s see if Rossi/Pantalone can do the honourable thing. 🙂

I have an uncle named Robert Ford, and he is an obese conservative. He is not, however, a fucking moron, and is capable of mathematics.

BR 1, Toronto City Council 0.

It’s rude, I know, but watching him speak makes me think of Jabba the Hutt.

He doesn’t sound like he’s reading from a prompt that was written by a high school freshman at all.

By the logic of Ford’s first point there… shouldn’t Ontario’s Legislature should only have 95 ridings… because the House of Commons only has 95 ridings for Ontario.

And that the Provincial Legislature for PEI should only have 3 seats, total.

And that the territories should have straight up election for the ONE member, who would become the defacto Premier, and be forced to not deal at all with any of this ‘democracy’ nonsense once elected.

As governments shrink geographically, they need to add additional representation within the regional government, because otherwise certain sections of that region become unfairly neglected.

Toronto has twice the number of civic seats that it does at the provincial level? So what!?! There are whole provinces with less than a dozen MPs, and they STILL need municipal and provincial governments.

Wow, that ad was terrible.

The only quibble, and this might be due to being in a different country – is that over here, a hiring freeze usually takes both forms – no new jobs and attrition on existing ones as they vacate.

Really terrible stuff all around, but I do rather like his peppy, midi-style theme music. It’s like the amateurish icing on the cake of seething ineptness.

As a work colleague of mine said yesterday:
“It’s like Rob Ford thinks that cars can vote”.

I think Torontoist deserves credit for occasionally flogging an idea like the return of the Dream Warriors without beating it to death.

Not only is it great and more immediately palatable to most people than any scheme I’ve heard from Rob Ford at this point, I’m sure it’s more thought out.

The most maddening thing is, no longer living in Toronto, I won’t have any possibility of influencing this.

Can you have Dream Warriors as a write-in?

I’m still trying to figure out how Dudley Dursley came to run for mayor of Toronto, and why anyone thinks that that’s a good idea.
