So today Wikipedia and Reddit and WordPress and a bunch of other sites have all “gone dark” for 24 hours to protest SOPA. They’re right to do so and if you’re one of my American readers, you should make sure you voice your opposition to the bill. Not least because it would be exceptionally easy for me to get SOPA-blacklisted. After all, I am foreign (from an American perspective), and I make use of an exceptional amount of copyrighted material.1 That it might be fair use is besides the point: SOPA does not discriminate. Why, I could be SOPA-blacklisted just for embedding this awesome tribute video to La Parka, who as we all know is the greatest wrestler of all time (as well as a brilliant political pundit).
Now, granted, if La Parka were President23 he would just hit Jim DeMint with a chair and do a little dance and then SOPA would fail, because that is what La Parka does. But since La Parka is not President, it is instead up to you American readers to put down your RC Colas4 and get up and make yourselves heard. Although you probably shouldn’t hit Jim DeMint with a chair. I suspect that would not turn out well, and you probably wouldn’t even get to do the little dance.

Hey, I called both my Senators (including the one to whom I donate noticeably) to follow up on letters already sent.
Having already done my homework, I will settle for observing that it’s Moxie in this neck of the woods. Mmmm, Moxie.
Personally, I would love to see DeMint hit by a chair. Well, any massive, airborne object headed in his vicinity, really. A multi-ton ferrous meteorite, for example.

*But is LaParka a match for the Villanos?
Frankly, I think our legislature would be much improved if chair-wielding luchadores were a regular feature. C-SPAN’s ratings would certainly go up, for one thing.
And the Republican primary would have been fantastic!
Who would dare to throw down with Crazy-Eyes Bachmann? Who would survive the fury of Ron Paul’s patented De-Regulation Suplex, Rick Perry’s Texas Miracle Lariat, or Santorum’s Googlebomb? Where will the mysterious 9-9-9 logo be spray-painted next? Who will be Newt’s new wife?
Emailed both of my senators twice, called both offices twice and signed about half a dozen petitions. I would like an RC for my efforts now.
Actually, I just had a Cherry RC Cola. Because I’m all fancy-shmancy like that.
Addendum: 13 of the original 40 backers of the SOPA bill have apparently dropped their support after the protests today.
We have RC Cola in Australia, but it’s not very popular, I wonder if it’s the same stuff. Its the only thing I’ve drank that tastes both sticky and dusty while remaining fluid.
La Parka is already the Chairman of WCW. He don’t need no stinking Presidency. Also, I doubt he’d be able to keep the mask on, a source of much personal pride for many Luchadores.
I emailed my senators, but I bet they were both already too busy breaking the kneecaps of all the other senators who wish to take our internet kittens away from us, because Carl Levin could kick La Parka’s ass so hard, La Parka would have to name all his rectal polyps after the Great Lakes.
La Parka became L.A. Park due to copyright problems. Yup.
I’d nearly forgotten how great La Parka was in WCW. It’s a rare enough thing for a pro wrestler to even realize, let a lone embrace, their essential clownishness.
Well if SOPA existed, I would never have seen this La Parka video or found out who he was.
