any thoughts on the 80s anime remake of it, Dracula: Sovereign of the Damned?

While the crossover/battle with Doctor Strange worked really well, I’ve always felt that the battle against the Silver Surfer was a bit… off, for all concerned.

Honestly, anyone who isn’t Thor or Quasar should last about three seconds fighting the Surfer.

So what’s the best way to go about reading these nowadays? Is one of the Essentials or another tpb line easily available/in print? Comixology appears to want about $2 an issue, which would end up being about $140 for the whole run.

I’d recommend the Essentials. The series looks great in B&W, and it also collects the companion magazine.

Yeah, I got all four Essentials one at a time a year or so ago and payed less than cover price for each.

Such a dark, moody, fascinating series. Even when stuff got completely bat-shit insane (Dr. Sun, I’m looking at you), it was still anchored by Dracula being such a well-done character. Plus, Harold H. Harold. What’s not to love?

I’ve got some issues of ‘Tomb of Dracula’ in a box somewhere. I’m particuarly fond of the one that opens: “In the heart of London’s Docklands, with a chill wind blowing in off the Atlantic…” – although the recent weather does make that rather more realistic.

The issue where Quincey Harker has to choose between killing Dracula and saving Rachel Van Helsing is one of the best stories Wolfman ever wrote.

You have to give Marvel it’s props, when they ended their horror books they gave Dracula a properly glorious send off – facing the X-men(And wiping the floor with them), Stalmating with Thor(Albiet thanks to drinking goddess blood), and finally going toe to toe with Dr. Strange and making him work like hell to squeak out a victory.
