Normally when I hear a bit of a song and I want to download it, I do a lyrics search on Google and get the song title in seconds.
But here’s the problem: the song I want to download is by Rammstein. So the lyrics are in German. So I can’t really Google it accurately. All I can really say about the song is that it’s got more of a rock flavour to it than I traditionally associate with Rammstein’s techno/black-metal sound, and that it’s probably something they released as a single.
Help?
EDIT TO ADD: “Tier,” suggested by an able reader in email who, upon being told that the song was “operatic in tone but with a driving beat and a deedly-thingy going “ah-ah-ah” in the chorus”, named four possibilities. Although it turns out I rather like “Engel,” too. God, I love the Internet!

Their big hit was Du Hast. Could that be it or is that too obvious?
It’s not Du Hast. That more or less epitomizes what I expect out of Rammstein, plus I already know that song. This is more recent and… less bloodthirsty-sounding? I dunno.
Could it be Engel? From the Mortal Kombat (2?) soundtrack? Engel starts off with some high pitched whistling. DOOOOO… do doooo…. DOOOOOO… do doooooo….
then it goes like

Maybe if you remember any of the words you could try some phonetic spelling. Might help.
Youtube’s kind of a scattershot method, but it might help. If it was a released single there’s probably and official video for it.

I think you might be talking about “Morgenstern”.
Not trying to be an ass, but Rammstein is not black metal. They’re nowhere near it. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
It’s not what you’re looking for (yet) but Stripped, Rammstein’s cover of a forgettable Depeche Mode song, is one of their best efforts. I also think you should look into Dope. Their song, Die Motherfucker Die, is a lot of fun to have playing on your iPod when out in public…
