Of interest

I wouldn’t wish that on anybody either, nor quadriplegia (well, maybe on a few select, extremely despicable, human beings). I just wish I could understand what makes somebody feel the way she does, though. She appears to share the Klan’s beliefs, as she goes to the trouble of “blessing” the garments and so forth, which she wouldn’t have to do if she were just sewing these clothes to make a buck any way she could. And if she knew of a black person who had a quadriplegic relative, I wonder if she would feel for that person because of her own experience or whether hatred would win out.

What we see as the irrational hate towards minorities, she sees as the love of her own skin color. Plus there is no sign that she would be doing anything else if her daughter hadn’t been paralyzed in that car accident. So my pity for this bitch is stuck firmly between zero and nil.

That said, hate is not an objective evil. One can hate for the right reasons. The difference is whether the hate is rational and whether the objective the hate is focused upon can be changed. Rational hate promotes the opportunity for rational change, because in order to justify change in something, you must, at some level, hate the status quo of that thing. Irrational hate comes from an irrational or misdirected hatred and is focused on something that usually can not be changed. This form of hate promotes bigotry and elitism.

After viewing the pictures and reading the captions, I still can’t make heads or tails whether this is a desperate woman using her meager skills as a seamstress to make an income to care for her quadriplegic daughter, or one who agrees with the ideologies. Without knowing either way, one might make the analogy that you know, John McCain’s tailor doesn’t need to agree with McCain’s political stances to tailor one of the man’s suits. The “blessing” doesn’t convince me, necessarily, because I wonder if the Klan’s robes simply need to be blessed by someone “qualified” to do so, which might allow the woman to command a premium for the robes other seamstresses can’t (which she could use to cover her probably exorbitant medical costs. That equipment she’s using looks damned expensive).

Well, if it helps, her husband sells white pride merch.

Her skills hardly seem meager. Those looked like well crafted robes and she clearly puts a lot of effort into them if she’s fetching 100+ dollars and working 10+ hour days.

Maybe she’d make fursuits if the Klan robe thing fell through.

But, again, I’d be worried about getting through to the people who stone women for the “crime” of getting raped or showing their faces in public; rape babies; force female passenger only trains because of widespread sexual assault; think women who dress revealingly are asking to be raped and deserve it.

There’s really a lot of things she could be doing worse than making dresses for the only white people who are actually loud and proud about it.

I know this sounds rather picky, considering all of the horrific aspects of this story that I am blatantly ignoring so that my brain doesn’t starts endlessly screaming, but…

Exalted Cyclops?!

Wouldn’t that entail only one eye hole? Or even that the “person” wearing it had only one eye? Or is that he or she only sees one color upon wearing “Ruth’s” sanctified robes? And why would that render him or her exalted? I am very, very confused on so many levels…

She’s poor and has a hard life… but… that doesn’t excuse hate.

The post humanizes this KKK family, but that doesn’t increase my sympathies. We have to face the hard truth that members of the KKK are human. That this kind of hate is what humanity is capable of. That doesn’t excuse this hate, if anything, for me, it make hate that much more horrifying.

The post didn’t cause me to pity her. All hate mongers have families. They’re still hate mongers.

That said, the comment about her deserving to be “raped by a bear” or something to that effect… also not cool. Fighting racism with misogyny? Not something worth applause.
