Spider-Man: The Musical
I am not joking. Spider-Man: The Musical. It’s coming to Broadway.
If that’s not crazy already, get this: it’s being directed by Julie Taymor (The Lion King, Across the Universe, Titus) and scored by Bono and The Edge (U2, being self-righteous douchebags).
Producers are holding an open casting call for the roles of Peter Parker, Mary Jane, and a mysterious “Principal Woman”. The Principal Woman should be “female, 25-35 years old [with] amazing rock vocals. Think Sinead O’Connor with a Middle Eastern/Bulgarian/Greek twist. Foreign, world music types are great, foreign accents are great.”
Okay, Spidey fans: with this description in mind, who is the female villain in the Spider-Man musical? Discuss.

Female villain? It could be the Black Cat, or if they want someone vaguely european, it could be Silver Sable.
Though if she needs to be bald (the Sinead comment) then it’s the vulture all the way.

Nope, new villain. There was an article about this last year, with additional mention that there would be a “fanboy chorus” consisting of three nerds who sing Spider-Man’s tales. Truth!

Definitely deep-rooted. Bono certainly comes off as a bit of a self-righteous douchebag, and how can anyone take a person named “The Edge” seriously?
Also, let’s not kid ourselves. U2 hasn’t put out a good album in 15 years.

@Mojo: I took the Sinead O’Connor comment to refer more to the vocals than the look (bald). And I was going to wager on Black Cat, too; I could see her being vaguely Joan Jett-ish, but more emo.

Female villain.. Solid money is on The Black Cat. During the spider-clone fiasco there was a female Doctor Octopus, but since Broadway productions actually try to do something worthwhile, I doubt this is the case.
Unless the principal woman they’re talking about is Aunt May.

-Elektra (Greek descent on Earth 616, character could be native of Greece in the musical)
-Black Widow (Russian, also has spider-themed name)

I think Silver Sable is the most feminist representation of a woman in Spidey’s life who I would think of off the top of my head. I mean, she’s intelligent, she can fight, she isn’t a ‘love interest’ nor a ‘femme fatale’, she doesn’t get kidnapped or held for hostage by some supervillain…

The Edge did a good theme song for that mediocre The Batman cartoon. It was eventually changed to something else.

I dunno about “self-righteous douchebag”, but naming yourself Bono Vox (’excellent voice’) certainly displays a degree of hubris / arrogance. To be fair though, he does have an excellent voice, even if I don’t like a lot of their music (I still don’t think they’ve topped Pride).
On the other hand, while his preachiness does get on my nerves at times, at least he is trying to use all that money and prestiege to do something worthwhile. I mean, it’s not like I get access to the President to convince him we should increase aid to Africe… I don’t really like the guy, but he does get a degree of respect from me.

Apparently that nickname was given to him by someone else, atleast that’s what the wikipedia profile says about him. Though, with the amount of attention Bono has had over all these years it doesn’t suprise me that the space in his ass where his head fits has become a parallel universe of it’s own.

South Park pointed out that Bono does a lot of good but still comes across as a piece of crap, which is a sentiment I can agree with. Is it any wonder that he was a person of the year with Bill and Melinda Gates? (I have nothing against Melinda, mind you.)
