There’s much worse on the iTunes store. I get offended every time I scroll past “The Hottie And The Nottie”. I want a feature that lets you hide movies you’ll never rent.

“Even the video on podcasts is not great.”

There are some HD video podcasts that look pretty good. NASA has some for Hubble images and whatnot.

The big news on the iTunes video store is that they now have Doctor Who, old and new.

If iTunes downloads to laptops, you do realize that these movies are just transparent excuses to make out? In my experience, the crappiness is proportional to action being had in a room. (Unless it’s ‘Sin City’. That’s just a cockblock.)

I don’t have stats to hand, but what kind of tiny percentage of overall movie revenue does Itunes movie rentals account for? I mean, isn’t this basically a sample size composed almost exclusively of nerds who value technique over substance?

If you’re watching the movie on a phone, you haven’t seen it at all. You may THINK you have, but you haven’t. And it’s just such a sadness, that you could think you could experience a movie on a… a FUCKING PHONE. It’s just such a sadness.

If only. It’s Martin Lawrence doing the “wholesome family comedy” shtick- so, I’m assuming, 83 minutes of “stay away from my daughter!” It’s such a rich genre.

1. The Bank Job
Decent, I guess. Basically a softcore porn with Jason Statham. If you’re into that kind of thing…

2. 21
I only watched it for Jim Sturgess. Loved Across the Universe. Did not disappoint.

3. Step Up 2: The Streets
Cheesy acting, but the dancing was pretty sweet. End scene in the rain = win.

4. Definitely, Maybe
Loved. The only movie I actually enjoyed with Ryan Reynolds besides Waiting.

5. Vantage Point
Great concept, bad execution in my (most humble) opinion.

6. Picture This
Never heard of it, but it looks like a generic dra-medy.

7. Drillbit Taylor
No, not really…

8. Stop-Loss
Super cheesy. I got the feeling they were trying to take advantage of the recent anti-war sentiment just to make a quick buck. Meh, maybe just me.

9. The Other Boleyn Girl
Not really my kind of movie. It was pretty boring, but I don’t think it was bad, overall.

10. The Bucket List
I just think any movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman is too much awesome in one flick.

11. College Road Trip
I guess… Basically just American Pie 7 or whatever number they’re on now.

12. My Mom’s New Boyfriend
Pretty ingenious plot, I think. The name doesn’t really make you want to see it tho…

Actually, The Bank Job is an excellent film and Definitely, Maybe is not bad. I can’t say the same for the rest of the options, though.

My three purchases from the iTunes movie store:
- There Will Be Blood
- No Country For Old Men
- O Brother, Where Art Thou

The general quality of movies on iTunes is not stunning. I did start on The Wire via iTunes, though, so that’s a point in their favor. The shows in general are pretty nice since I don’t watch TV.

And eventually Dark Knight should be there, which will be awesome.

You can’t *entirely* blame Hollywood, when people keep shelling out money for this crap it’s hardly surprising they keep making it. Kinda like Twinkies.

I’ve never used the iTunes movie thing, so assuming that they cost less then the price of a DVD or less then or equal to a rental, then I’m going to assume…ok hope… hope against hope infact, that these people are testing the waters with these purchases and that no one is really so dumb as to WANT to watch some of these movies outside morbid curiosity. Though I’ve heard good things about Definitely, Maybe. But College Road Trip? Step Up 2: Electric Boogaloo?
