Star Trek + Jet Packs == Awesome is an equation that I can get behind.

Last time, it was Star Trek + Dune Buggies. Maybe this will work out better.

Why so suprised about seeing Boobies in STAR TREK? The series have always had ‘em, even if the characters sprouting them were annoying (lookin’ at you, Troi.Seven of Nine, too.) Boobies have always been a cornerstone of TREK (although admittedly not as much in the movies, probably because of the casts being older).

At the risk of being…. well. ok. There’s no secret that I’m a nerd of high caliber. I am pretty sure there’s replicator technology built into the first Enterprise, so I would not find it that strange that anyone who wanted to could have a perfect replica of pretty much any car they wanted.

Hell if Kirk wasn’t such a damn cowboy, it COULD have been a Delorean…

In the end though, will it sell t-shirts?

I’m not a trekkie. I don’t like any of the tv series really. But I have always liked the movies. Even the ones people hate. Well Final Frontier did suck, but I liked Search for Spock and Generations

But I don’t like the smell of this new movie. I don’t care about canon or how the ship looks, I just think it smacks of a bad reboot. I mean, am I the only one who doesn’t really care about Kirk and Spock anymore? More importantly, is there nothing left of the Star Trek universe than to return to the original series for inspiration? If so, why bother, why doesn’t JJ just make his own sci-fi universe? Or better yet, a Mass Effect movie!

A plaque on the Enterprise’s bridge just mentions San Francisco.

Allegedly, the Writer’s Guide for the original series said the Enterprise was built in San Francisco on Earth.

Actually, I thought the canon was actually that it was built in space. Which makes more sense. Would have liked the trailer better if there was some promise there would be a story here instead of some fan-favorite actors and Chris Pine doing the most expensive cosplay ever.

The thing that got to me was – building a spaceship that big on Earth? Why? Seriously, even if you have the technology to support that shape in Earth gravity, and get it off the planet, it’s still going to be a colossal waste of energy and resources.

It doesn’t look like a Star Trek trailer. This can only be counted as a good thing, as ST movies have a tendency to suck. I’m vaguely optimistic.

Wow. Am I the only person who loved the first trailer, but absolutely dislikes this one? It just seems like standard fare. The Kirk with the car in the beginning? Ugh. Idiotic.

This will not be my cup of tea, I can tell that already…
