“30 Rock”? Liz is an outspoken liberal and she’s single and older, yet remarkably successful and confidant (when it comes to doing her job — not so much other things). The big difference is that the show is strictly for laughs. The writers know not to stray onto the ground of dramedy.

The thing is…is it necessary today to call attention to a woman being a liberal feminist divorcee who gets action? There are other things to tackle, sure, but…I like to believe we’ve jumped that hurtle. Right? Riiiight?

Boston Legal is at least that forthright. And is actually quite funny.

Especially William Shatner, who is largely playing a caricature of himself.

R.I.P. Bea Arthur indeed. This is one more trail for her to blaze, and unfortunately we can never have her sharp commentary of it. As for Wade, he cries tears of inconsolable sadness.
