For the record: Vernon Welles did NOT pass away; it was just an internet rumour. Sky Saxon really did, though. (And, no, I won’t explain who they are; if you don’t know, you probably don’t care. But Sky had made more music in the past decade than Micheal Jackson…)

Speaking of Iranians and Michael Jackson, I loved that bit in Persepolis when Marjane goes out with a Jackson button on her coat and tries to convince the religious cops that he’s a famous black Muslim leader in America. But they don’t buy it.

The Iranians didn’t lose anything. I don’t know about where you are but the news here (local and national) was dominated by Iranian coverage, even after the Michael Jackson announcement, as it has been for the last week.

Is kinda sad, but not truly a surprise, as he was in poor physical conditions since two years so far, and he simply could not sustain the stress of a concert. Same as Farrah , we did not like dot think about but it was expected.

“What no love for Farrah Fawcett?”

I think it was the shock from the suddenness of M.J.’s passing that has his coverage eclipsing Farrah Fawcett. Farrah was great but she’s been sick for quite a while and her passing, while still sad, was expected.

There’s something odd about Farrah Fawcett going. First of all, yes, I know about all the good things she did as a person and she lives behind a rich charitable legacy. But what really gets me about it is — as a lonely and sometimes horny guy, hearing about Farrah’s death touches something close to my center that I can’t quite describe.
