In the music industry, they no longer want to hear the full song, just the hook – the refrain. I can see how the refrain hooked the people, but the rest of the lyrics really sound amateurish and detract from it too much.

You forget, Zenrage, that K’naan lived in Somalia until he was 13, and so that means he’s instantly an amazing artist singing about amazing struggle no matter what his actual skill.
If the guy were actually just from Canada instead of moving there, he wouldn’t have a career.

This is not even close to my favourite K’Naan song, but it makes a great anthem, so cheers to that!
For those of you who are haters, check out his other stuff before completely writing him off. Despite what some of the above comments indicate, he is actually really talented.

I’m pretty picky musically and this isn’t my genre, but knowing nothing about the guy or hearing any of his other stuff, this song really impressed me, and I find it quite catchy.

Nice song!
Hey, that’s really catchy.
… really, man? I expected better than you. The guy’s complete shit.
1. Catchy Refrain
2. Mind-numbing rhyming
3. Better rhyming with approaching crescendo
4. Repeat
