Gundring cannon are at this point nearly a century old, predating the Vjort mortar by almost ninety years. The first true heavy gunpowder weapons in the world (Karabokoran flowerfires are generally considered only recreational entertainments despite some deadly accidents), cannon created the path to Gundring’s current status as most powerful of the Northern nations.
“I’ll escape now from this world, the world of Juan Valjuan…”
Must be from Los Miserables.
except he is a passable undead like the oversized bodyguard and grabbed cannonball so he could walk on the bottom of the sea.
I was also wondering if he might be undead… or, indeed, simply faking his death in some way (there’s no reason to say he has to hold on to that cannonball all the way down, and in a world with undead and flying carpets, who’s to say there isn’t a magical rune of water-breathing or similar?)
“There is nowhere I can turn! There is no way to go on!”
Jean Valjean, btw 😉
Hi! I discovered your webcomic this evening via an ad on multiplexcomic.com – the image in the ad turned out to be taken from book 6, page 24 (of the giant telelescope), and so judging from all the gears in that image, I thought this would be a steampunk setting. No, it isn’t steampunk, but I was only disappointed by that for as long as it took me to read the first page! I proceeded to read through the entire archive in one sitting, despite a growing hunger from having not eaten dinner. Both the writing and the artwork are absolutely superb, and the panel layouts and plot twists and world-building are excellent as well. I will definitely be recommending Al’Rashad to my webcomic-reading friends!
