Malabai’s Cut is named for Malabai, thirty-first Caliph. He was still only a general to Kobar, thirtieth Caliph, when he used compressed naptha during the Second Rashadi War to topple the mountain Kandhartha, and reduce what was previously the widest mountain pass in the Chabad mountains (and the nexus of most land travel between the Bokan Empire and the Caliphate) to a difficult and treacherous series of paths. Although the Cut still sees much international travel, it is useless for the purposes of transporting a large army through the Chabad as it is highly defensible and easy to patrol.
