And that’s it. After over three and a half years, Al’Rashad is finished.
The story isn’t finished, of course. This was always envisioned as a trilogy when I first came up with the idea ages and ages ago. But the first part of the trilogy is done.
Ra-Boka will come… when it comes. The simple truth is that with my day job I can barely find time to write pages, and Davinder has essentially been working a part-time job for free by drawing his (gorgeous) pages every week on top of his for-real paying work. We’re going to have to look into some ways that this comic can make us money now – selling collected editions will be part of it, maybe we look at a Patreon to compensate for the ongoing work Ra-Boka (and eventually Karabokorum: Empire of the Walls) will take, that sort of thing. Plus I need a bit of time to finish plotting out Ra-Boka before we actually start working on it anyway.
Anyway. Thank you all for reading, and we hope to come back reasonably soon.
Thank you for this comic. I hope to support you on patreon.
Al’Rashad has been awesome, and a highlight of my week has been reading the pages as they go up.
Hopefully Ra-Boka can get started soon, and I’d definitely be happy to purchase the collected editions of any/all of them, and even investigate Patreon to help out both of you.
Cause this level of consistent professional work needs to be encouraged.
Kickstarting the print book, one assumes?
If so, please tell us here too 🙂
It’s been a great comic, and I’m highly looking forward to the sequels whenever you’re able to work on them. Thanks to both of you for your hard work!
Yep, would definitely enjoy getting hold of a printed set. Especially if it included the annotations, explanations, thumbnail bios, etc. Great material!
Seconded!
awesome story!!
APPLAUSE – Standing OVATION !!
Please keep writing. Wonderful dimensional characters in a logical well developed world
This is one the most impressive comics I ever read. Chapeau! I’ll totally buy a collector’s edition but please do not mess with the art like you threatened to: the current style is just fine and needs no changes. It would be like changing the contract between you and your readers to alter your style ex post facto. Plus, if you have so little time then it is better spent on the next comic than on ruining this one. Look forward, not backward!
As for Patreon you should have done that long ago. I’ll definitely contribute to that, too.
I disagree.
I think the proposed gray-scale/shading improves and enhances the line art, which is already very good.
Looking forward to the continued tale. Is a strong universe with a cultural depth. Strong art and artful storytelling. Please hold true to your talents.
Will be checking back for updates. Good luck and good health.
It’s been a year. Can we get a little hint? Waiting is . . . . a challenge.
Well that was really nice. I read this comic before when you were in your prequel interlude. It’s nice to be able to finish it.
