Each of the Nine Tribes swore an oath to the first Caliph – except the Gryg, who famously refused for reasons that at the time were unclear. The Oaths varied from tribe to tribe – the Shahar, for example, are allowed to partake of pork, while the Kymal are the only tribe who are still legally allowed to have honor duels.
