The resemblance is uncanny.

Wow. Really? Not cool.

Also, I’d be careful what you say(or repeat) in this country, as that could easily be construed as crime under our labyrinthine hate speech laws.

Mithel: speaking as someone who’s had cause to study hate speech laws in depth, you really don’t know what you’re talking about.

That was glorious.

And I thought Derek Lee had Godwin’d the whole thing this afternoon on the CBC (jabbering something about the Reichstag fire). I still laughed.

Of all the Downfall redubs, this one is comparatively accurate to the original rant. Wow.

Really, MGK? I mean, after the gongshow that Maclean’s went through?

Kindly name the identifiable class protected under the equality rights clause of the Charter against which the video promotes hate.

I’ll just sit back and wait here for you to do that, shall I?

Dude, I wouldn’t be expecting a response. If Canada is anything like the US then the people who bitch the most about hate speech laws are the ones who have no understanding of them.

… Well, I think now I understand Canadian politics.

I wonder if there’s some kind of correlation between the election of Barack Obama and the way Canada and the UK have both suddenly lurched towards dictatorship.

Great clip! Glad to see that we’re not alone to see some similarities.

You know, I was planning to watch this movie some day… Now I’ve seen so many versions of this clip that I don’t know if I’ll be able to take it seriously.

It’s not hate speech if its funny.
…well, if that rule’s not in the labyrinth of laws, I think it should be.

Your readers are just so much cooler than mine.

Mithel, you need to read up on hate speech law a bit.

Personally I hope the Queen shows up, sends Michelle Jean for a course in constitutional studies, and sends all the party leaders to their respective rooms until Harper either quits or learns how to govern a constitutional monarchy with a minority (Hint: Quit acting like your word is law).

Ah well, sic semper tyrannosaurus and all that.

@MGK:
I’m stealing this as soon as I can get to my own blog. Many thanks!

My favourite bit is how they tie into the original dialogue by having declare himself “the greatest leader since Stalin”.
