I was thinking 70% Billy Dee Williams (one of my co-workers: “Who?”), 25% Eddie Murphy and 5% Eriq La Salle from “Coming to America.”

That’s just sad.

He looks a lot like his daddy.
MJ probably saw this issue and said, “Not if I can help it!” and phone the first plastic surgeon he could find.

These artist changed the course of history.

Wow. Those guys went WAY off the mark, didn’t they?

Now that’s a man I’d buy King Cobra Malt Liquor from.

Wow, that´s really, really sad. :(

Especially the line in the lower left corner. “In number, his fans will have grown tenfold in the year 2000″.

They were sadly off the mark on fashion trends as well.

I thought it was Billy Dee at first.

Sometimes, there truly is nothing to add.

Exactly what I was gonna say…

I wonder if they thought popped collars would still be in style or if they thought they’d be back in style.

It would have been incredibly scary if the artist predicted what he REALLY looked like.

*coughs* YOU SHOULD HAVE POSTED A WARNING!

Also, I too thought this was a young Billy Dee

I think I actually remember reading this back in the day. Either that or the power of the Billy Dee resemblance is bending my mind.

I would love to see the rest of this article… And also to know how Nathan Wright managed such a nice looking photoshop in 1985

Michael Jackson becomes white, Billy Dee Williams plays a character who would later be played by a white man. Conspiracy or bullshit? YOU DECIDE.

malakim2099 said on July 24th, 2009 at 6:36 pm

Maybe who we think is Billy Dee is secretly THE REAL MICHAEL JACKSON!!!

OMG!

‘photoshoping’ was called ‘airbrushing’ in 1985.

Apparently MJ’s whiteness wasn’t so much plastic surgery, and more a rare skin condition? Nose was totally his own fault though. =P

Vitiligo.

mygif
Jason said on July 24th, 2009 at 9:46 pm

THe Vitiligo causes the skin to get splotchy from what I understand. THe whitenss was basically going overboard when trying to keep the skin tone even.

Though honestly I thought he’d already gotten a bit lighter than in that picture in 85

Burke said on July 25th, 2009 at 10:01 am

There are skin conditions out there that make your skin stop producing pigment, effectively turning you albino in bits and splotches. Hardly noticeable on a white guy like me, very obvious on a young Michael Jackson.

mygif
Simon K said on July 25th, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Yeah, I know a guy with vitiligo, I’m pretty sure that isnt what turned MJ white. His skin (And also hair) has patches with no pigment, but it is definately not uniform in any way. If MJ had vitiligo, then he still went the plastic surgery route to even it out, but personally I doubt he had it in the first place.

Klaus said on July 25th, 2009 at 4:44 pm

I’ve been- hypocritically -looking into the MJ nonsense, and I am of the opinion that he did have a skin disorder. But went overboard on the surgery trying to hide it.

@RobotKeaton
That would have been awesome. I was 1 at the time this came out so I would have missed the fiasco, though.

@jason
I agree.

I assumed it was Billy Dee Williams until I read down to the bottom.

And I’d also like to see the rest of the article.
