Somebody should just let Brad Bird (no relation) direct all the action movies.
(As for the Dark Knight Rises preview: visually exciting, looks epic, excited for the movie, but totally unable to figure out what the hell Tom Hardy was saying through his Bane mask.)

There’s another Mission Impossible movie? And it is actually good? Does this one involve Tom Cruise? (I just want to know exactly how magic Brad Bird is.)
Yep, this one has Tom Cruise in it. And Simon Pegg too!
I assume, since you’re writing this before the theatrical release (although maybe Canada got it earlier) you saw the IMAX version. Worth the extra money?
I saw theatrical release; no idea what its dates are elsewhere.
And yes, the IMAX is so worth it. The Burj Khalifa sequence, in IMAX, is so intense it will trigger acrophobia. I am only SLIGHTLY scared of heights and I was reminding myself it was just a movie.
I’ve only watched the first one all the way thru, but does he get his team dissavowed in EVERY movie?
“When Gotham is in ashes, you will be permitted to die.”
@CS
I think it was “When Gotham is ashes, you may have my permission to die.”
But close enough. It’ll be very interesting to see what they do with Bane.
I think Tom Hardy was saying “And to think I thought my career was in ashes after Star Trek Nemesis!”
Like I said over at Flick Filosopher’s review: They had me at “Brad Bird directing”.
Down here in the states it doesn’t go into wide release until the 21st; they’re deliberately keeping it IMAX only for the first weekend.
Still, you answered my question quite satisfactorily. You, sir, have sold a ticket!
Trying to figure out how to modify “do ALL the things” meme character to be distinctly identifiable as Brad Bird….
I can’t be the ONLY person thinking that the juxtaposition of THAT preview with THAT movie will get someone at Warners thinking “Well, since we’re going to be looking for a new Batman director soon, why not hire that cartoon guy?”
Naw, there’s nobody at Warners that smart.
Oh my goodness, a Brad Bird-directed, more Silver Age/Batman Family-style film (think “Brave and the Bold”) would be the perfect to kick off a new Bat franchise that could be just as cool as Nolan’s but in an entirely unique way.
If done Brave and Bold style, it’ll need a guest for Bats to team up with.
Bob Parr, anyone?
BRAD BIRD FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE
Haha, while a Batman/Incredibles crossover would kick all kinds of ass, I think it’s more reasonable to hope for Batman/Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes) or Huntress or Wildcat or some other DC B-lister who deserves a chance in the spotlight and could act as an interesting foil to Bruce.
I’m gong to see MI: Ghost Protocol for Brad Bird and no other reason.
I agree so much it makes me nauseous.
