I’ll be glad to trade you 15% of Americans voting in Canada as an exchange, but I think that might be a dealbreaker.

Yeah, it’s an interesting thing to ponder, isn’t it. Especially since American foreign policy (and domestic policy) has such a profound impact on Canada. So, the thought doesn’t demand a potential abandonment of concern about the details of ones own country. I suspect this would be the case in any country, but very much so the case here in Canada.

And, it’s not like my vote ever makes a difference anway, since I vote NDP and my riding ALWAYS goes Conservative. So, it’s like I’m throwing my vote away anyway. Alas…

For some reason, when I read that headline, I thought “It’s because the other 85% have no confidence in any of the potential candidates.”

I thought it was just because the Canadian politicals manage to look gormless standing between Hillary Clinton and George Bush, and that takes a good deal of work. These are people that get less name recognition than Mario. I suppose it helps that they know there’s an American election this year, while the best we can say about the Canadian political system is there might be one in the next three or four.

God I’m sick of being America’s annoying tag-along little brother. We need to move the fuck out of America’s basement and off to somewhere where we can start our own goddamn lives. Be independant-like. Grow the hell up.

I don’t want to vote in America. I don’t even want to have to phone America on its goddamn birthday. I want to pretend there IS no America and concentrate on Canada’s life for once. Jesus fuck.

I imagine that living in Canada would be sort of like watching the business across the street turn into a crack den. You get more customers, but at some point you have to wonder about chasing away the regulars, the quickly-declining property values, and whether people are going to start breaking into your place at night.

Actually, I can see how it would be worse if all the crackheads had guns and thought they were the avatars of God Almighty, which is more or less the situation we have in the States right now. We’re trying our best to fix things. 🙁 Please excuse the mess.
