I do pretty good until either Chinese, Russian, or Australian cities show up. Those countries are so fucking big, you can’t even make a good guess.

I have also had a couple of African countries that didn’t even know existed.

I had always felt that, while I was by no means a walking atlas or anything, I had a pretty good grasp on world geography. Another illusion shattered (and damn you, Burkina Faso, for being in a different bit of Africa than I seem to think you are).

2718.

And I won the Geography Bee back in eighth grade or whatever.

I haven’t had them pop up yet, but in these kinds of games, it’s always Brazilian cities that throw me.

I’m a long time lurker and I have never commented before. Finally I found a reason to break my silence. 15,383.

Australia should name a city Waterloo, because that’s where I met my defeat.

Apparently I don’t know where the hell burma is. If they said Myanmar, maybe. I put it in Bermuda instead.

I made it to level 10. 15,299.

My problem is that I don’t know most Russian and Chinese cities. Brazil and Australia are a little tough.

I know roughly where most of the African countries are, even though I know few of the cities.

The real bitch is when I misread a country. Tasmania =/= Tanzania, not by a long shot.

I wonder if Bender is better at this than I am.

I can’t seem to break 8000. And I do some of this for a living.

As an example: I spent 24 years of my life in Tampa, USA. I was told I was 80km from Tampa.

I’m thinking that I am just not an accurate enough mouser with this- i know the cities, I’m just not hitting the mark.

I think I’d do much better at this game if it involved labeling members of novelty basketball teams.

Damn, this is going to obsess me for weeks–!

On the plus side, you’ve given me something to do during those slow hours in the lab besides Bubble Spinner.

I constantly misrecognize Poland for Germany. This map is cheating by being so small, and showing Europe so centrally!

DistantFred: Don’t worry. Historically, the Germans are prone to the same mistake.

8938. I blame China… and Canada. I’m Canadian, and haven’t yet gotten closer than 250km to any major city other than Ottawa and Quebec City. Also, I can’t accurately place any American locale I’ve driven to other than Bakersfield and Miami. This is very disturbing.

Completed level 10 with 17836; Chinese, Argentinian, and Brazilian cities are not my friends.

I got 20214 back when the game was badged a year or so ago.

I’d do worse now, since there’s a lot of cities that I short termed memorized that that I’m sure I’ve forgotten.

topped of with 17,418, and with like 50 points from completing level 10. Thanks for linking the game and taking 5 hours from my life.

I finally beat it. I got lucky on level 10, though. Back-to-back Colombo, Sri Lanka, which is really easy.

Did anyone else get a “STRIKE!” I felt so smrt. It was some random city in Spain though. I feel pretty ignorant too- the game for me is more “do I know where the country is” than “do I know where the city is”. Sad, but I’m learning!
