My friend Gemma Files recently finished her novel A Book of Tongues, which I am not sure what it is about offhand, but I know the following things:
1.) It has cowboys shootin’ people in violent bloody gunfights
2.) It has mean badass magic in violent bloody ways
3.) It has gay sex, which may or may not be violent and bloody
If these elements seem like they might appeal to you, then I highly recommend that you purchase a copy, because Gemma is a hell of a writer. It is not un-pricey, but it is a special Limited Edition. (I promise I will ask Gemma if she will write an additional gay cowboy fight scene in the inside of the cover for you if you get one.)

If the gay sex is neither violent nor bloody, then it isn’t being done correctly.
So it’s like Harry Dresden at Brokeback Mountain?
Interesting!
(In a good way.)
Yeah, but will she draw an additional gay cowboy fight scene on the inside of the cover for me?
You know Gemma Files? She wrote one of my favorite short horror stories, “The Emperor’s Old Bones”. Might have to look into this.
$50? Yikes. Does this come with actual gay sex or just the written kind?
If it is gay cowboys, do they eat pudding?

This sounds right up my alley — seriously, I’m a Storm Constantine fan! But I’m sad that it’s too expensive.
Just to say: The indeed exorbitant (yet gorgeous) hardback copy will be followed up with a substantially cheaper trade paperback copy, released simultaneously; however, because CZP is a small press, they’ll only (initially) be printing one trade paperback per hardcover which gets pre-ordered.
Also: Geez, Chris! Thanks so much!
How do you tv people?
I’ll check this out.
Gemma did a little brain-sculpting on me back in the Trebas days…looking forward to a good read!
I have to admit I’m really curious, but it’s a bit too rich for my blood since there’s no excerpt or something so I can see how it is written. At least I saw no links to such when looking around. Is there any place I can check out how she writes?
Four of my stories are linked through an archive here (http://darkisbetter.blogspot.com/). I suggest starting with “The Emperor’s Old Bones”, which is probably my most representative work.
Wait, buying the limited edition just gets me an additional gay cowboy fight scene? NO SALE.
I demand an additional gay cowboy magic fight scene. If those guy-kissin’ cow-punchers ain’t slinging spells at each other, I don’t want none.
Zeno: Well, there’s a pretty good hexslinger-on-preacher smackdown, as well as a struggle between one half of the main couple and a very powerful Native magician. But due to certain plot twists, for real magic-assisted partner-on-partner domestic violence shenanigans, you’ll unfortunately have to wait for Book Two.
