I agree with most of what you say there, except for one thing. I’ve attended and enjoyed several Gay Pride Parades in which numerous politicians have marched. Despite this, I do not think that it is an essential duty for any politician to march in one of these parades (the main reason seems to me to be to curry favour with the homosexual demographic). You can certainly make a strong argument that Ford is a homophobic douche for snubbing the gay community, but to claim that he has neglected his job by doing so is (in my opinion) wrong.
