I knew it! Boka IS an evil empire! Also, I like Fezay’s expressions.

You know, I somehow keep forgetting that this is an actual high-fantasy setting.

I keep thinking of it as a sort of alternative-history kind of thing, played straight. Especially with all the politics and the fact you don’t have people walking around being obviously magical.

But Gundring has magical rune-ships and weapons with same magical runes. There are, you know, zombies. And now some sort of undying wizard king.

So, is he signaling somebody with those hand gestures, or is he casting a spell?

I thought it was very clear he was signalling Fezay and possibly Kahal.

I also really love it that Alric has known Fezay for all of half an hour and is already planning awesome murders with him.

(I presume there are going to be murders involved here, in one way or another.)

Ah, thank you. I’ve always been curious about how to say “I am going to commit suicide” in sign language.

@Murc: It does make sense that he would, though. He’s basically friends with Kahal and he can see that Kahal is friends with Fezay, so he has a reason to trust him. Also, he saw how Fezay took out a whole room full of Boka zombie soldiers and managed to make it out alive, so he knows that Fezay is capable. And then there’s the fact that they have a common enemy whom they all REALLY hate, which is great for fostering teamwork.

Now, does Fezay’s “Mm” imply “Okay, but how do these pistol things work?” because I would be amused if it does.

Well, he knows how it works: you pull the trigger and the bullet comes out and kills a guy. He doesn’t know exactly how gunpowder is made, but then again practically nobody outside of Gundring does; it’s one of the reasons the Free Kingdom, while young, is undoubtedly one of the world’s great powers. They’re probably what we would recognize as the “most technologically advanced” of the major nations in the world, and early mastery of gunpowder was a big part of transforming the hundred-plus petty kingdoms in the fjords into a unified nation.
