Over the past few weeks I have been very busy at Torontoist helping to write a lot of endorsements – including our mayoral endorsement of Olivia Chow, as well as a bunch of other city council endorsements – as well as liveblogging debates and I will presumably be liveblogging election night as well.
All of this to see John Tory elected in a probable landslide seems like a lot of work for very little payoff, to be honest.

But maybe if Doug’s “little bitch” comment sinks his numbers to only around 22% and Olivia overtakes him over the weekend, and then a bunch of people are all “Well now Doug is no threat, I don’t need to vote strategically for Tory anymore” and vote Olivia…. CHOW 2014!!!
Or, the GTA proves to be fundamentally conservative and rightwing overall, and it won’t matter and Tory still wins in a landslide. Which, ultimately, would just go to show what a horrible, horrible politician Tim Hudak is.
I never got a polling call, not even once, and I voted for Olivia. I know that’s anecdote, not science, but I’m not the only one.
I may say you’re a dreamer, Ilan!!*

Your work has been appreciated. Torontoist had excellent coverage and helped people make informed decisions. Well done.
I assumed John Tory was a sort of verbal cliche for referring to a generic member or politician of the Tory party, like calling an unidentified corpse John or Jane Doe. Then I figured out that that’s an actual, real life human being.
