Is there an old series or property out there you think deserves and would be a perfect for a big budget re-make?

You spend a lot of time on DC/Marvel comics. I’m curious to know what you think of the online indie comic offerings (There was a big shout out to OotS a while back, of choose). How do you think the indies attack up to traditional comics?

Also, I’ve seem slim to nothing on manga. Why no love for Goko?

Thoughts on the politicization/polarization of SCOTUS? In the context of the healthcare and/or more widely. Would be interesting to have the perspective of someone outside the US but inside a country with a similar system (I say this as a Brit, mind you).

@A2H: They share cherry-flavoured Slim Jims, then beat the crap outta the CashMan for stealing their catchphrase. Or just on principle. Ohhhhhh, yeah!

Anyhoo…

1: Given that you’ve recently outed yourself as a wrestling fan, what’s your favourite current storyline? Your least favourite? And what are your best and worst experiences at a live show (assuming you’ve attended one)?

2: Given your love of board games, what’s your favourite variation on an existing game? (F’r instance, my brother and his friends have a fun extra rule for Risk, called the “nuke” and the “anti-nuke”. If an attacker rolls three 6’s, he wipes out a defender’s entire army in that country, while if a defender rolls boxcars, all but one soldier in the attacker’s army is killed.) (And I’m pretty sure I’ve asked you this one before, but I really wanna know what you think.)

3: I realize it’s a much bigger issue in my part of Canada than it is in the GTA, but what’s your opinion on the Burton Winters tragedy?

You’ve had several articles on board games recently. I was wondering if you’d played Risk: Legacy and what your thoughts on it were (assuming you HAVE played it, that is).

Alternately, Marvel Studios, riding high on their successful series of movies all leading up to the Avengers (which is going to be a hit whether it’s actually awesome or manages to totally suck, let’s be honest here), is looking for their next big Marvel-verse thing and comes to your door with a dump truck full of cash and a request for you to take the helm of their newest project, a Doctor Strange movie. So how do you do it? Who do you cast? What’s your script breakdown look like? Bear in mind that you have to try and keep things roughly within the style and tone of the Marvel movies we’ve seen so far, but beyond that you can tackle it however you like.

Given that the story has become increasingly complicated and the last two books didn’t exactly match the breakneck pace of the first three, can George R. R. Martin still deliver a satisfactory ending to the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series?

Does it bug you that comic book characters never seem to age more than ten years (give or take) past the age they are when their story begins?

And finally, I’d like to hear your thoughts on the Republicans calling for tort reform in the American legal system. My mother (a paralegal who normally wouldn’t agree with conservatives if her life depended on it) thinks it’s a good idea, as it will help rein in an overly litigous culture. But I’ve also heard some people say it will make corporations less accountable to their customers. What do you think?

P.S. I know that Republicans don’t talk about that last one quite as often as other things. But it is one of their causes, and I thought that as a (admittedly Canadian) lawyer, MGK might have some interesting opinions on it.

Back in the mid-80’s (I think), here in the states, CBS, for their late night programming block, would air old movies, unaired pilots, and canadian tv shows. The most famous one was Forever Knight, but I recall two others, both action series. One was a rather standard cop/detective show and had a crime reporter serving as narrator. The other was about a spy for an unnamed agency who lost his hand and was transfered to record keeping down in the basement. He kept being a spy as much as he could, to prove he could still do it. Can anyone tell me the names/details of these two shows? I think they were both set in Vancover. I was quite fond of them.

@Kaisius: Not sure about the cop/detective show, but the spy show was called “Adderly”, and starred Winston Rekert as a superspy who was transferred to the agency’s Department of Miscellaneous Affairs (a small office, staffed by all of three people, including Adderly himself, tasked with the nuisance jobs other agents couldn’t be bothered with, like picking up drycleaning, or fetching coffee for people on guard duty) after his left hand is crushed while on a mission. Despite his crippled hand and his apparent demotion, he always managed to find himself in the thick of the action. (I was actually a fan of the show, back in the day.)

Which good actors do you feel don’t put on a North American accent convincingly enough to let them shine in their characters?

As some examples, I find that Michael Caine, Colin Firth and Tom Hardy are all very fine actors, but I just think they get “lost in translation” when they play Americans as opposed to, say, Gary Oldman, Colin Farrell, or Hugh Laurie.

I’d ask about other English-based accents, but I wouldn’t be a good judge of that… only evidence I have is from an Australian friend who was blown away with how well Kate Winslet can sound like a native Aussie.

Of all the LOSH villains, I’ve always wondered about Mekt Ranzz, aka the Lightning Lord. I read somewhere that all it took to make a comic book villain was for someone to have a bad day, (it might have been this site) now imagine having a series of bad days from day one.
The thing is he’s crazy. Not quite as bad as he was in the 80s (that whole attempted murder on his sister thing) but more like a quiet lucidity and we’re all just watching that mental slide of his go.
What does that say about Winath as a society?
I’m thinking as the single-born (the only single born on the whole planet according to Adventure Comics vol 2 issue 2 Side Story according and to that same side story, Mekt believes he has a twin and there was a cover-up, whether this is true or his own delusion/coping mechanism time will tell) he probably had it rough growing up and according to the LOSH threeboot we know he did. Mekt probably started to slip years ago, long before the Lightning Beasts came into the picture.
Did no one see this coming? Did no one try t help him or was he just written off as a lost cause? For a future that has been criticized as static or too utopian, that implies some damn dark undertones.
I’ve come to my own conclusion that Winath isn’t the greatest place to be if you don’t have a twin for native Winathians (eg twin died in an accident)so that said, Mekt has been screwed from day one. While I’m not justifying or excusing anything that he has done, I’m curious as to what one of the most informed LOSH bloggers on the internet has to say about the fall of Mekt Ranzz, and who or what failed him in the process.
This is my way of requesting a Who’s Who.
