I hope Leslie Nielsen just really needs the money and that he isn’t in this for ideological reasons… much like Superhero Movie.
And as for the “Hussein” gag… wow. The ADC is going to have a field-day once this movie hits those 2000 theaters…
Wow. Wwwwow. I…don’t think I can not see this. No matter how hard I try.
I… may have to see this at some point. I certainly won’t pay money to see it, but it looks like it might be so bad that it goes out the other side into so-bad-it’s-funny territory.
That’s Chris Farley’s kid brother. David Spade needs to punch him.
It’s always amazing to see how the right wing defines patriotism. For all the platitudes about freedom they mouth, you think they’d have less taste for the “yes-sir-no-sir-anything-you-say-sir, siddown-n-shuddup, kiss that badge, flag, and cross, nancy-boy!” worldview they promote so strongly. Sigh.
I am going to have to watch this piece of shite. I’m sure it will be just as reasonable as any super market tabloid is.
I love how O’Lielly implies 2000 theatres is some kind of achievement for the distributors. Otherwise, it just looks like a big pile of shite.
I saw that footage last week, and words still fail me!
The right need to find a better representative sound than pop country. Are you seriously going to tell me there isn’t a single republican rapper?
Watching that trailer was like watching a car accident on the freeway. Except somehow, I couldn’t stop watching. On the freeway, at least I have the risk of causing an accident myself to help tear my eyes away.
I REALLY hate myself for snickering at “turd-head”
Dude, I just read that Robert Downey Jr is a conservative (saying being in prison taught him things — I assume it’s a new version of the stupid line of thought that “a conservative is a liberal who’s just been mugged”, but now it’s “redemption for me and rich white guys, and fuck you all”).
Fuck, I always assumed he was this really sharp gay man.
“The right need to find a better representative sound than pop country. Are you seriously going to tell me there isn’t a single republican rapper?”
There was Eazy-E from NWA, but he’s long dead from AIDS.
“Robert Downey Jr is a conservative”
And another reason that Robert Downey Jr was perfect to play Iron Man gets added.
Bill- Eazy-E wasn’t actually a Republican, though. Jerry Heller just convinced him that it’d be worth the publicity to attend a Bush fundraiser. 50 Cent is more along that line than most, but he’s mostly apolitical. He likes guns and money, though, and said he sees some of himself in George W Bush.
Ooh, I just googled around and found Hi-Caliber, the conservative white rapper.
“I’m sick of these phony baloney / left-wing radicals like Nancy Pelosi / they’re all just empty suits / they support socialism / I support the troops… crazy big shout-out to Don Imus!”
I don’t see him blowing up, honestly.

A guy on a message board I frequent pointed out the major conceptual failing to this movie: If you’re making a movie to protest those horrible elitists who consider any views but their own to be treason, it kind of hurts your point to make a movie about how any views contrary to your own are treason.
Fun fact: Chris Farley’s brother is only in this movie because Larry The Cable Guy had scheduling conflicts.
RDJ is conservative?! Aw, man, and here I thought he was so cool…
So, there was Expelled, and now American Carol. We really need some more kneejerk liberal movies. More so than “An Inconvenient Truth”. Do Michael Moore’s movies count? “Sicko” seems to take care of the universal-health-care-is awesome angle. Something about The Great Melting Pot. Um. A romcom about two gay men trying to get married? I’m coming up blank. Suggestions?
This actually looks funny but my main excuse to see this is…hellooo! Trace Adkins on the big screen!! Nummo!! Trace Adkins is one miiighty fiiine angel of death!!! *drools*
Kelsey Grammer is perfect to play the insane Patton.
Robert Downey Jr. changed because of prison:
“I have a really interesting political point of view, and it’s not always something I say too loud at dinner tables here, but you can’t go from a $2,000-a-night suite at La Mirage to a penitentiary and really understand it and come out a liberal. You can’t. I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone else, but it was very, very, very educational for me and has informed my proclivities and politics every since.”

*insert joke about anti-sodomy laws*
I was going to ask, “Does that make Rosie O’Donnell a Log-cabin Republican?” but I bit the bullet and checked IMDb, it’s just a parody character.
Robert Davi? Damn.
Seriously though, the funniest part was that FOX News’ title caption was so important it obscured the text of all of the stars as they were named. heh. yeah. ugh…..
oh, Leslie, honestly, you really don’t need money that badly, do you?
*sigh* I’m just going to assume he’s mainly doing it out of his friendship to Zucker, but c’mon man, it’s really starting to hurt his legacy.
I suppose it’s good for Robert Davi’s career to get some face-time, but I’m never going to be quite as gleeful when his character appears on Stargate Atlantis anymore. 🙁
I think that from now on, anyone who meets Bill O’Reilly should just slap him across the face. Then give a big shit-eating grin, and say, “I just like slapping you!”
And when he gets upset, say, “Oh, I was just doing that bit from your movie. Man, I thought you had a sense of humor when I saw that…”
I fapped to this trailer!
Do you lose your sense of humor when you convert to marxism?
My favorite is where it says “David Zucker, the master of movie satire!” And the huge quote up on the screen is by… David Zucker. Funniest part of the trailer.
That actually was pretty funny… But it was the ONLY funny part of that trailer.
@Mo
Y’know somehow I don’t think its funny that right-wingers think its somehow satirical to pretend that it was the right-wing that freed the slaves or that Lincoln, just because he was a Republican, that he would have been a member of the modern right-wing incarnation of the Republican party. The reality remains that while the Democrats were the social right-wingers in the days before and following the American Civil War, the right-wing segregationists started leaving the party in the 1960’s after LBJ, a Democrat, signed the Civil Rights Act. The most prominent segregationist, Strom Thurmond, who filibustered the Civil Rights Act for 24 hours, left the party soon afterwards to join the open arms of the Republican party.
Then let’s not forget Republican Richard Nixon who, in the 1970’s, tried to get two segregationists on the Supreme Court bench. Then there was the Reagan administration which actively supported the Apartheid state in South Africa and acted to keep Congress and the UN from imposing sanctions on that country while simultaneously declaring Nelson Mandela as a terrorist.
To me, those who actively try to deny or intentionally lie about their own philosophy’s brutal and inhumane past is really no better than the Neo-Nazis who actively try to pretend that the Holocaust never happened.
Calling this movie a satire is like calling Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed a satire. It doesn’t expose the folly of others. It just concocts its own.
