My friend Rob, playing Guitar Hero on a Commodore 64:
(By his own estimation, there were five girls present at this Commodore convention thing. Three of them were one guy’s wife, mother and daughter.)
Oh, no — two were the guy’s wife & daughter (who played a mean game of netracer). That meant three were there of their own initiative.
And it wasn’t sad at all! I got some great ideas for a Commodore 64 project I’m gonna build as a Christmas present for my brother.
You’re just jealous you missed out.
Oh man. The moment the first bit of the video loaded I knew it was the Ghostbusters theme.
Those C64 nerds are awesome.
You realize that perhaps the greatest modern Commodore geek – Jeri Ellsworth – is a girl, right?
Us ’64 types have always been a subversive lot.
I think that GH for the Commodore is cute. I wouldn’t go to a convention, though.
I wish they’d remake Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders. That was the most awesome C64 game.
I will note that it is about the same gender ratio as at a Slash Fiction convention I attended. 200 women and 5 men, gathered to discuss a shared love of er, very gay fanfic.
And one of the guys was there as a: the son of an attendee, and b: a Harry Potter Femslasher- ie, he wrote girl on girl.
wow, I miss my C64. and GH done on a C64, awesome.
I believe these comments have established: he ain’t afraid of no girls.
Nora: The relationship between Slash fanfic and women is well documented.

Slash is porn about gay men, written by women, written for women.
In a post-apacolyptic world, this will be our entertainment.
Actually, I’m female and I found a video of that conversion on Youtube awhile ago searching for things with Commodore in the title.
And I would go to a convention…in fact I did, Assembly summer 2008.
Admittedly I have more love for the IIGS, since I grew up with that instead of a Commodore, but either way…
I guess this explains why the demoscene is so overrwhelmingly male then? *sigh*
