Torontoist made its endorsement of a party in the federal election today. I wrote it.
That’s one of the better endorsements I’ve ever read. Well done!
Too bad it doesn’t matter. People vote for the people they’ve always voted for, ads and endorsements don’t matter.
The Sun chain’s constant attacks on anyone not Conservative is embarassing… and could they be any more obvious about the fact that they’re giving the Conservative Party a blow job?
And swallowing, not spitting?
Well put. If only more people would listen.
May you get a more palatable coalition government than we in the UK have.
I keep sticking on the point that any party where the leadership lied blatantly enough to force said government’s collapse shouldn’t be allowed to get re-elected. For the love of God, resignations across the board for the Conservative party should have been freaking mandatory.
I’m very much a dyed-in-the-wool left-leaning Liberal, but I’m seriously considering voting NDP this time ’round, for a lot of the reasons you brought up. That, and out of the three main party leaders, Layton’s just more likeable. Ignatief is so uptight if you shoved a piece of coal up his ass he’d probably poop out a diamond, and of course, Harper’s an evil, lying, hypocritical scumbag, but Layton seems much more down to earth, the type of guy who actually seems to give a damn about the average Canadian.
The only problem is, in order to vote for him, I’d need to vote for our local NDP candidate, and I just can’t bring myself to do that. I live in one of the largest communities in what’s easily one of the largest (geographically, not population-wise) ridings in the country, and our NDP candidate has barely campaigned here. Even though our lawns and roadsides are littered with red and blue signage, there isn’t a single orange one to be seen. Hell, if it weren’t for a “Meet the Candidates” blurb in our local paper last week, I wouldn’t even know we had an NDP candidate. And I’m sorry, but if you’re not even gonna try for my vote, you’re not gonna get my vote.
Sorry MGK, the pro-U.S., pro-War on Terror Conservatives are gonna win, thanks to Obama!
Nicely written, puts most papers to shame; good to point out strategic voting is our reality here.
I thought you wrote that. In any event, I agree, and will vote for my candidate later today.
An exceptional piece. It lays bare the ‘endorsements’ of the Globe and Mail and The Montreal Gazette as the callow political maneuvering they are.
I have no problem with the war on “Terror-Conservatives” such as those that have been running the country as of late.
The census issue demonstrated that Harper doesn’t believe in the laws of Math and Science. As he’s said, he belives “he makes the rules”. But I can’t bring myself to trust a government that would overrule every scientific body on Earth in order to appease their own egos. Hopefully the rest of Canada won’t either.
Well written, intelligent and clearly presented. Makes me almost want to be Canadian and vote for ’em.
How will Bin Laden’s death affect the Canadian elections? Start polling it!
