I actually have seen one of these kits in person, at a rather curious “museum” of odds and ends in my hometown. The art of selling useless junk to credulous travelers is an ancient one.

They’re fun, but I have long had a sneaking suspicion that while the bits and cases are genuinely vintage, they were all put together no longer than a decade or two ago.

You can find all kinds of that cryptozoological stuff on the steampunk forums here: http://74.126.25.104/bg-forum/

They have how-tos on how make your own zombie/vampire/werewolf hunter kit. Cool stuff.

Now I want a kit to make me look like the Watchmen squid:

And I promise to make that my last MGK blog spam, so help me God.

Not that it’s particularly relevant to this article, but could you by any chance have your links pop up in a new tab? I like to see the comments and the link at the same time.

kthxbye

I don’t see a whip. Where is the goddamn whip.

Dude, when you find yourself face to face with Mr Alucard on a dark road in the forests of Ruritania, do you want your most essential piece of equipment to be stuffed into a box on the back of your coach? Or hanging on your belt, within easy grabbing distance?

There are no whips because no sensible vampire hunter would be dumb enough to stuff his whip into a box.

My question is, assuming this is authentic, how many innocent and most likely anemic people were killed through the use of a vampire hunter’s kit?

All you need is a bowie knife, people.
Jeez, read the book sometime.

I’ll take a .454 Casull Auto anyday.

Polychrome, I maintain that it was the decapitation-by-kukri that killed him. The bowie knife just gave him pause for thought.

112 years and we still haven’t had a movie about a Gurkha vampire hunter.

Handmade in Sunnydale through summer employment.

I can’t see any mirrors in those kits. You’d think that sort of thing would be necessary but I guess those are kind of expensive at the time to just peddle to tourists.

HEY! I made one of these in prison!
