But where does the Spectacular-Spider Rebate fit into all this? Does this have anything to do with the classic teamup of Obama and Spider-Man? Will we be seeing a new super-team, comprising of Redneck Santa-Man, President-Man, and Spider-Man? Or are they just going to go fishing?

IF IT HAS SPIDERMAN ON IT, I MUST PURCHASE!

mygif

How good would it be for ice fishing?

mygif

Why do I think Trucker Santa was trying to pay money to spin on Spidey’s “rod”, and the Webhead managed to pull one over on the creep?

mygif

This is like a lost Spidey Super Story! Spidey Versus Awesome Annuity Gift Man Of Lake Champlain!

mygif

I think Spidey’s body language says it all: “Wait, Trucker Santa gets fistfuls of cash for Christmas and all I get is a $%*#ing fishing pole? THIS IS THE WORST CHRISTMAS EVER!”

mygif

Spidey is in the picture because he’s a web-spinner and that’s a spinning rod.

Plus, Spider-man spends his off-hours casting web-nets to catch fish to feed the poor.

at least back then adverts still had images of naked profiteers gleefully clutching their earnings. honesty in advertising is sorely lacking today

mygif

Huh. I thought it was Jerry Garcia.

mygif

Actually, when you think about it, flycasting would be a good match for Spider-man.

mygif

Garcia is an anagram of “A Crag I”, which is ancient aramaic for Mephisto. You see how far back the seeds of OMD were sewn? DO YOU SEE?!!!

mygif

Spider-Man has off-hours?

Seriously, if there’s a superhero who doesn’t have any real downtime, it’s him.

mygif

Seriously, the best part is how this is just one huge cut/paste disaster (back when things were literally cut and pasted).

Spider-Man’s kinda’ letting the fishing rod just fall out of his hands, Trucker Santa may actually have some other character’s fist pasted in front of him (and the money probably was pasted in too). The eyes of Trucker Santa are modified, and that Garcia hat… well, I suspect it’s an addition. Then there’s the font frenzy going on.

Still, it’s fun seeing these old timey comic ads from a quarter-century ago.

Oh, c’mon. 25 years isn’t nearly long ago enough to be considered ‘old timey’!

I mean, I remember buying comics with those ads in them!

Two things-
A. What the denomination are the bills that Trucker Santa has in his hand?
B. If John Goodman gets to play Santa in the next Spiderman movie, I’m there.

mygif

It’s easy.. it’s a Spectacular rebate and there’s Spectacular Spider-Man….just a play on words…

mygif

Spiderman: I wholeheartedly endorse this event or product.

mygif

Jerry Garcia, hell.

I say it’s Bin Laden.

mygif

The ad tells me to “See your dealer for details”. Exactly *which* dealer am I supposed to see, now?

Santa looks like a “Von Dutch”-wearing pimp.
