I’ll always think of him as Britain’s #3 Horror Star.(Which doesn’t SOUND that impressive until you remeber that’s right behind Cushing and Lee- and frankly, he was more fun than Lee).He could be classy or sleazy, and was great either way.
Personally, I’d rate him the #3 Alfred too (behind Zimbalist and Napier), but ONLY because they got more to do with the character- we’ve been pretty lucky with that character (Hollywood may not get Batman, but everyone loves a good butler).

Oops. I thought he was already dead.
Awwwwww damn. Best Alfred ever. Yes, better than Michael Caine, better even than Efrem Zimbalist Jr.

My friend created a memorial for Michael Gough, please leave a message for him. http://memorialmatters.com/memorials.php?page=MichaelGough
You do realize he did more than play Alfred in 4 Batman movies.
He also did a few Doctor Who episodes. He was Hedin in “Arc of Infinity”.
Poor Michael Gough. He is the new Alec Guinness.
