I just have this huge grin stuck on my face 😀
See, I thought it was going to be a submarine because this seems like a world that’s moving away from magic towards technology.
Still, flying carpets are pretty cool.
It’s actually remarkable how little magic we’ve seen so far. There’s the armies of undead monsters, obviously, and these carpets, but that’s about it. The Gundring runes might be magic, but it’s a subtle enough magic that we can’t actually observe it. I like seeing that kind of restraint.
That said, I’m also hoping we get to see more.
How do you feel about your readers calling things in advance?
Fakefaux – Well, if the titles MGK told us ages ago hold true, then it suggests that Boka and then Karukorum the Empire of Walls MAY be the settings of the next two books, and if Ra-Boka is the evil necromantic empire it seems to be from Dalakhra’s army, then the level of magic is likely to keep going up.
Hmm. So, the flying carpets are real, but their existence is not public. Very interesting.
Given that we signalled this in advance (as people pointed out last week), perfectly fine. It means they’re reading closely.
On the other hand, this week’s comments also reveal that they’re also getting things wrong in the way I want them to get things wrong, so that’s good too.
“You said these were myths! Rashadi with beards more magnificent than mine!?”
