My weekly TV column is up at Torontoist.
I also wrote a look forward for Ontario’s political parties over the next four to five years. And now, all I have to worry about is the municipal election! And a potential federal election next year probably!

“Potential?”
Don’t you guys have to have an election next year? I mean, Harper is pretty crazy, but even he isn’t going to try and just… not have an election, right?
Well, Harper could call it early. Also, note that three ridings in the GTA have byelections federally. Trinity-Spadina, and Scarbourough-Agincourt on June 30th, and Oshawa-Whitby whenever.
Aw, thanks somebody for giving Graham Greene a job!
The sixth and seventh seasons of The West Wing are much, much weaker than the fifth – not only with the assassination of Toby Zeigler’s character, but also the inane idea that anyone cares more about what Jimmy Smits is doing than Martin I-Am-The-Lord-Thy-God Sheen. Seriously: I don’t give a damn about the new campaign. I don’t care. Stop making me spend time with characters I’m unattached too in favour of sidling the cast I’ve been watching for five years.
I may be a little bitter.
I kinda cared about Alan Alda, but Alan Alda is so much better an actor than Smits it isn’t even funny.
Although I found his character wildly, crazily improbable even in 2005. A pro-choice, non-churchgoing Republican Presidential nominee? Yeah, right. Pull the other one, it has got bells on.
The campaign was a major breath of fresh air on the show, and rather logical for the end of the Bartlet presidency.
@Murc Canadian election are every five years, maximum, although the party in power can choose to have them held earlier (or can be forced to have an election, if they fail a vote of confidence). Mostly they do: no point in having an election forced on you in unfavourable circumstances.
Fun trivia fact: Kathleen Wynne is the LGBT leader with the largest jurisdiction in the world, population wise. There are two countries with LGBT heads, but they’re both smaller than Ontario (Belgium and Iceland).
