Way better than the Transformers version. Shipwreck was awesome in the cartoons.

great stuff, but i’ve got one question: is that comic sans?

No Shipwreak in GI Joe and no Grimlock in Transformers 2. They’re 0 for 2 on the big summer toy movies.

I mean, seriously, Shipwreak was the star of the only episode that made enough of an impact that I still remember it from when I was a kid. He’s literally the only non-Cobra character I’ve deemed worth remembering.

Nope, that’s not Comic Sans. I believe it’s Blambot’s Letter-O-Matic font.

Yeah, “There’s No Place Like Springfield” was pretty fucked up.
Freaked me out for like a week.

Like adding Shipwreck would have saved that train wreck of a movie.

I’m glad they didn’t bastardize Shipwreck in that Power Ranger movie. The producers who made that shit probably wouldn’t have seen anything wrong with making Shipwreck into a female army doctor who just happened to like pictures of boats.

Whereas any decent portrayal would have had Bruce Campbell playing the role.

I refuse to believe the GI Joe team was made up of Republicans. Parodies of all American stereotypes, sure. But let’s all keep in mind that no one was ever caught money laundering with Zartan to raise money for Central American paramilitary groups or telling the UN to fuck off while invading an island that doesn’t have any Cobra troops on it.

Hell, the closest they ever get to torturing anybody is sticking Scarlet in a disguise and sending the edited tape to Cobra HQ.

They don’t even kill anybody. Like, ever. Thousands of rounds of ammunition per episode and no one ever dies. And when a Cobra agent gets caught – do we get an on-the-spot execution or a trial ending in the death penalty? Hell no! Six weeks jail time in a minimum security golf club resort, before someone breaks everyone else out again.

So not conservative.

You would think that Sergeant Slaughter would have the show on Fox.

Best use of Shipwreck since the series ended (no, I don’t count what DIC did as part of the G.I. JOE universe).

Alpine needs to yodel and make the studio cave in on Bazooka. (I loved his avalanche-making ways when I was a kid.)

I’m ashamed to admit that if FOX hired Bazooka, I’d actually watch an episode.

Actually a lot of people have theorized that Brendan Fraser’s character is supposed to be Shipwreck, because he has an anchor tattoo. Seriously.

I don’t know enough about GI Joe to say whether that’s idiotic or likely.

I love when Damon Wayans’ character smacks The Baroness in the tit and says, “Homey don’t play that!”

Is it too cliche to say “MGK for the win!”? Because it would be true.

And nice job bringing in Alpine in that final panel. I figured that he always hung out with Bazooka because he was the dope’s social worker. Why else would G.I. Joe let a mentally-damaged person run around with a bazooka?

I don’t fucking count what SUNBOW did as part of the GI Joe universe.

The only difference between Sunbow and DIC’s cartoons was a minor drop in animation quality. As bad as DIC may have been, it never unleashed the god awful horror that was Cobra-La.

But whatever, they should have just made a 1 to 1 live action remake of the MASS Device miniseries to make the nostalgia blinded happy.

I count this as the second best use of Shipwreck.

Sorry, but the best use was when the Venture Brothers parodied him in the third season.

What the hell era of toys are these? I had the little ones held together with screws and a rubber band for a spine. We used to disassemble them and make our own hybrid Joes.

Dude, Alan Tudyk played Shipwreck in “The Ballad of G.I. Joe”. That has to count in his favor.

I think I had a Breaker figure when I was a kid. Or was it Clutch? I do know they both stayed in the alternate Cobra-run world with Steeler in the animated series.

Zenrage . . . are you hoping for more OSI stuff in the new season? Shore Leave/Holy Diver was funny.

Jason,

No, I hope not to see more of Shore Leave. They’ve done all they can with the character. Plus Holy Diver being generally useless and a waste of time really only works once as a gag.

I’m sure we’ll see more of the OSI though. With Hunter Gathers turning rogue and Brock Samson quitting, I’m sure it’ll only be a matter of time.

At one time I owed nearly 200 figure, Joes and Cobra combined. I wasn’t one of those ‘leave in the box’ guys either. I had elaborate battlefields dug throughout my back yard, rope and pulley systems with aircraft hung from them for aerial battles. I even created a small lake so my hovercraft could be used.

I used the heck out of those toys. I even made a soundtrack for each side. The Joes had their theme song blaring away and Cobra had their song ‘Cold Slither’.

I was a sad pathetic only child.

I wonder if Shipwreck would be pleased to know that he has a figure in the movie toy set at Walmart. Probably not.
Personally, I think this is karmic payback for talking Snake Eyes into dressing in drag.

Bit of trivia: In that “There’s No Place Like Springfield” episode, Shipwreck’s new house with the Synthoid family is located at Number Six Village Lane.
The classic Shipwreck moment is him standing on a pickup truck, throwing apples at a colossal amoeba that’s devouring a wheatfield in the Heartland, which has to be one of the more effed-up appropriations of Americana ever.

I may have missed something, so pardon me if I’m coming from the wrong place here, but:

You do know that Marlon Wayans played Ripcord and not his brother Damon, right?

Why do you think that all black people look alike?
