Well then, I think I’ll have a Coke.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of the new Pepsi logo either.

Kinda sad how quickly that other place went from discussion to “your mom is a whore.”

You, uh… You have been on the Internet before, right?

I don’t really give a flying fuck what they did with the logo. I DO perfer the current can design though. It has a simplicity that resonates with me for some reason.

My paranoid mind can only interpret the release of this ridiculous inner document as viral marketing. I mean, the alternative is that someone was SERIOUS about this.

These must be the same braniacs behind the current MTN DEW logo…

I was wondering what the Timecube guy was up to these days.

@Exar: I keep reading that as “Mutton Dew,” and imagining a lamb-flavored soda marketed to snowboarders.

If you look at the document long enough, it starts to make sense, and THAT’S when your brain snaps.

Iä Iä Pepsi Ftaghn.

I think this almost would have been better without any context. Almost.

Having read the context document, I have to say that this doesn’t go far enough from the original to function as proper parody. This is no more insane than the original.

Thanks to the economics of the incredible shrinking supermarket, our Pepsi sells opposite the chips, and the chips/snack backstock is piled on the top shelves above the shelf displays. So as you take a Pepsi off the shelf, in the corner of your eye you can see the Hostess-Frito Lay boxes looming above you, with their slogan: “The Power of Ownership.” Pepsi owns Hostess.
“Hey, retailer! Carry our crappy soda pop, or you don’t get no Tostitos! Yes, even that Pepsi Max crap.”

Actually, your version makes more sense, and would probably be a better ad campaign.

I really hope those context documents are some sort of elaborate fake, because seriously?

That logo is the ugliest thing based on the golden ratio I have ever seen.

It keeps reminding of the Korean Air logo.

Eh. I gave up on Pepsi years ago when they switched to those wide-necked bottles.

I tried it again a couple of times when they went back to narrow necks, but somehow it just wasn’t right.

I always found the taste of Diet Pepsi more disagreeable than Diet Coke. Couldn’t tell you why exactly, but there seemed to be a faintly metallic taste to it.

Strangely, I tried some Diet Pepsi with Vanilla recently and found it delicious– not only better than Diet Coke with Vanilla but an actual nice alternative to Diet Coke.

Guess what got canceled in the revamp.

@Darth Paradox: Yeah. It’s just, you know . . . sometimes it just gets to you.

I prefer the taste of Diet Pepsi to Diet Coke–so long as I can still recognize the product to be Diet Pepsi, I don’t care what the logo looks like.

That said, my initial reaction to the new look was, “Wow. Very 70s.” And the big “0″ over “cal” “carb” “sug” just looks like some kind of funky tree.

Hey, MGK, I don’t know if you’ve seen this already, but someone linked to this bit of Music.Metafilter, and I thought of you.

Bored? Remember last year when Zednik got his artery slashed with a skate?

Check him now:

Maybe he is Wolverine.

I think the only perfect way to do a parody of this would be to remix the absolutely bug-shit wacko original into something logical and ordinary.

But what are you REALLY trying to say about Pepsi, MGK?

Viral Marketing. this stuff has been around for a year. Move along.

I didn’t realize you actually took all of the pictures directly from the pepsi document. That one with the dude and the “pepsi spaceship” reminds me of those portraits with the eyes that follow you across the room. *shudder*
