If the guy with two asterisk is Baron Blood, then yes he’s still alive. Check Blade #12 of the last series he had, I think it came out in 2006. Blade’s father inadvertently resurrects every vampire that’s ever died, including the Baron.
Is Korvac still dead, or dead again? He showed up in Waid’s second run of Captain America, but I’m not sure either way. Of course, this could all be explained as devils or demons taking forms they know will mess with the heroes (like Grant Morrison’s Kid Eternity, and the figures from the past he “resurrected”) but that undermines any sort of dramatic tension in the heroes…
…and now I’ve given this more thought than I will to my job today. Great.
Actually, shouldn’t Bucky also have a single asterisk next to his name as well? Or has my waiting for the trade tendency with Captain America caused me to miss out on some big reveal about Bucky’s return from the dead?
MGK, rwe- The Executioner is probably all kinds of alive again. Everyone else from Asgard is, afterall. And reverted to some kind of status from before Balder went to Hel for the first time, based on his hair colour.
“Actually, shouldn’t Bucky also have a single asterisk next to his name as well? Or has my waiting for the trade tendency with Captain America caused me to miss out on some big reveal about Bucky’s return from the dead?”
Nope, Bucky was alive. Well, he might have been back in suspended animation during the time of this particular story, but that’s probably too much nit-picking even for comic geeks.
It’s a Skrull who had been programmed to believe he actually was Captain Marvel. Then he was told he was a Skrull and said, basically, screw you guys, I like being a Kree.
I think he may have died, though. I wasn’t paying much attention during Secret Invasion.

Except that was Kenneth Crichton, rather than Lord John Falsworth (who by dint of time would have had to be the Baron Blood in the Legion of the Unliving).
MGK: Granted. But given that the spell cast was supposed to resurrect all vampires (paradox!) that had been killed wouldn’t there be three Baron’s running around now? And while I’m not an expert on the character, didn’t all three wear the same costume, thus we have no idea which Baron was shown in Blade #12?
Wait, which one is Korvac? The guy in white behind Drax? Sadly I can recognize most of these guys with no effort at all. Who’s standing next to Bucky all in black?
And yes, if all vampires are back that means there are three Barons: The original, his sucessor(was it his kid, I don’t recall?) and the latest. Dippy costume for something as cool as a Nazi Vampire.
Sofa King: To Bucky’s left is Dracula, to his right Black Knight 1, who was a villian and founder of the Masters of Evil. He’s Black Knight 2’s father or uncle, I can’t remember which.
And don’t feel bad, I know who all but two of them are.
It’s the Green Goblin, brandishing what is either a pumpkin bomb or the severed head of one of his imitators.
That is clearly a pumpkin. Smoke. Little lines on the face. I’m sorry, but they weren’t going to let Green Goblin out-cool the entire rest of the gang.
Andrew- having now read that one shot; I’m still not buying it. That thing was obviously inaccurate to the set up of the Modern Thor, with Hela in different circumstances, and the Nine Worlds (and Yggdrasil) still in existence.
The Executioner is probably alive again. JMS basically reset all the Asgardians back to like 1972.
Are we sure that’s the regular Hyperion? That could easily be the Evil Hyperion that fell in love with Zarda. Good Hyperion killed him in the middle of the old Squadron Supreme series during a heat-vision war.
Even worse is that Death Adder, the green guy with no face and the fin second row, last on the right, recently appeared in an issue of Nova. I don’t know if it is the same guy, or a new Death Adder, but, really, why would you need a new Death Adder?
Very different Swordsman. For linking up your confusion comics history, he’s a son of Captain America foe Baron von Strucker and he and his mutant twin were ‘Fenris’, an X-Men foe. If I am recalling correctly, Baron Zemo got killed and reincarnated in the body of Citizen V (Who? Yeah, I know) and then killed the girl twin in Fenris. Since their mutant power required the two to hold hands, the guy was powerless… until he went crazy, skinned his dead sister and used her skin as the hilt of his sword! ISSUES!
Most of those are pretty easy to explain. The Goblin here is Hamilton. The Hyperion is the evil one (the first evil one; not one of the half-dozen-or-so mostly-evil ones that followed). Dracula is freaking DRACULA thus knows exactly where the revolving door in Hell is. The new Baron Blood is probably just some vampire with a love of stupid outfits (is that redundant?). Actually, weren’t Drax, Terrax, and Nighthawk all legitimately resurrected AFTER this story?
Bucky is the real problem. According to various retcons, Barnes, Davis, Monroe, and Jones were all alive at the time of this story. That means – despite being the original poster child for dead sidekicks – every single Bucky up to that point is accounted for.
Oh forget it. He’s a Space Phantom. Or a Skrull. Skrulls are big now.
Gavok: The Nighthawk shown is the one from the Defenders, not the one from Squadron Supreme.
Rob Brown: Although you’re probably right about the Green Goblin being Hamilton, you couldn’t be any more wrong mentioning Harry Osborn, who was still alive when this story was published.
Lister Sage:: quote,”To Bucky’s left is Dracula, to his right Black Knight 1, who was a villian and founder of the Masters of Evil. He’s Black Knight 2’s father or uncle, I can’t remember which.”
While you’re right about it being Black Knight 1, you’re wrong about his identity. It’s the one from the 50’s series. The “2nd” Black Knight was the uncle to the current one who joined the Avengers.
Rob Brown: Although you’re probably right about the Green Goblin being Hamilton, you couldn’t be any more wrong mentioning Harry Osborn, who was still alive when this story was published.
Oh, he was? I stand corrected.
Of course with the stupid retcon, he was still alive every year after the story was published, too! *sigh*

Of course if that’s not the Baron then nevermind.

Only in comic books could you have to have that asterisk on Hyperion.
Actually, shouldn’t Bucky also have a single asterisk next to his name as well? Or has my waiting for the trade tendency with Captain America caused me to miss out on some big reveal about Bucky’s return from the dead?
A wizard did it!
Truthfully, I’m surprised the Executioner’s still dead. I guess you can probably chalk that up to other creators respect of Simonson’s work.
MGK, rwe- The Executioner is probably all kinds of alive again. Everyone else from Asgard is, afterall. And reverted to some kind of status from before Balder went to Hel for the first time, based on his hair colour.
Executioner’s still dead. There was a whole one-shot about it and everything.

Wait, the guy to the left of the guy with two asterisks… isn’t he one of the Captain Marvels, the one that Jim Starlin killed with cancer?
Isn’t he alive again? He showed up in Civil War, right?
…oh, wait. According to Wikipedia, that was a Skrull. Okay then.
It’s a Skrull who had been programmed to believe he actually was Captain Marvel. Then he was told he was a Skrull and said, basically, screw you guys, I like being a Kree.
I think he may have died, though. I wasn’t paying much attention during Secret Invasion.
He did die during SI. And I think Morrison’s Marvel Boy is gonna go by Captain Marvel now.

The nerdiness… the nerdiness…
Is that Hobgoblin in the back row?
It’s the Green Goblin, brandishing what is either a pumpkin bomb or the severed head of one of his imitators.
Given that it’s the Green Goblin, I consider these two possibilities equally plausible.
Sofa King: To Bucky’s left is Dracula, to his right Black Knight 1, who was a villian and founder of the Masters of Evil. He’s Black Knight 2’s father or uncle, I can’t remember which.
And don’t feel bad, I know who all but two of them are.
Nah it’s Bart Hamilton, since Harry’s been alive and in rehab all these years. Very IMplausibly so.
That is clearly a pumpkin. Smoke. Little lines on the face. I’m sorry, but they weren’t going to let Green Goblin out-cool the entire rest of the gang.
Who is the guy second to the end, back row on the right?
Baal, that would be Korvac, the cosmic powered Preppy.
Andrew- having now read that one shot; I’m still not buying it. That thing was obviously inaccurate to the set up of the Modern Thor, with Hela in different circumstances, and the Nine Worlds (and Yggdrasil) still in existence.

What on earth is with some of these peoples’ stances? It looks like the decided to just stand with their legs as far apart as humanly possible.
Are we sure that’s the regular Hyperion? That could easily be the Evil Hyperion that fell in love with Zarda. Good Hyperion killed him in the middle of the old Squadron Supreme series during a heat-vision war.
Gavok, that’s Evil Hyperion, who was thought dead before the Squadron Supreme maxiseries and then died during it.
I thought Dracula was undead.
Wow as a 28 year reader of comics I have to say…
WHO ARE THESE LOSERS?
and
WHAT FOOL THOUGHT THE COMIC INDUSTRY COULD NOT GO ON WITHOUT THEM?
I swear if it was up to some writers (AND FANS) we’d be on Hamlet v6 and he’d be on his eigth ressurection…
What’s bad is I know all of them.
Even worse is that Death Adder, the green guy with no face and the fin second row, last on the right, recently appeared in an issue of Nova. I don’t know if it is the same guy, or a new Death Adder, but, really, why would you need a new Death Adder?
William Gatevackes: According to Wikipeida this is a new Death Adder, but his real identity hasn’t been revealed yet.
Upper left character in purple. Isn’t that Swordsman? I thought he was alive and well in Thunderbolts.
Or is it a different Swordsman?
Very different Swordsman. For linking up your confusion comics history, he’s a son of Captain America foe Baron von Strucker and he and his mutant twin were ‘Fenris’, an X-Men foe. I didn’t know “Darkest Night” previews were out yet!

Maybe he’s a dead Skrull posing as a dead Bucky?
Wasn’t the original saying “Only Bucky stays dead”
Gavok, that’s Evil Hyperion, who was thought dead before the Squadron Supreme maxiseries and then died during it.
Right. So Nighthawk is shown there and he died several issues after Evil Hyperion. Doesn’t that mean Evil Hyperion’s placement here is correct?
Gavok: The Nighthawk shown is the one from the Defenders, not the one from Squadron Supreme.
Rob Brown: Although you’re probably right about the Green Goblin being Hamilton, you couldn’t be any more wrong mentioning Harry Osborn, who was still alive when this story was published.

For the record, that was the original Black Knight from King Arthur’s time…
who Marvel brought back in Black Knight: Mystic Arcana as having achieved something resembling godhood after his death.
