I don’t remember where I saw it, but I once saw a video of someone’s custom Super Mario World hack where when the player blew through it as fast as possible in a perfect run, the various player sounds (stomping on Goombas, kicking turtle shells, collecting coins, etc.) played the theme song from Sonic the Hedgehog.
It was the most awesome, yet scarily depressing, video I’ve ever watched.
Actually, yes, this is pretty cool. I love it when people continue to do amazing new things with old consoles and games. Makes me feel better about VG as a whole.
They’ve added a lot of stuff to that program since the last time I checked it out. I still don’t have the patience to transcribe any songs to it, though.
More SNES flashbacks, hooray! Mario Paint was one of my favorites. (I loved the demos that came with the music composer.)
On a side note, I’m no great connoisseur of music videos, but I just watched the official Viva La Vida clip and man, it was painful.
So that’s pretty awesome, but I wanted to bring to your attention, Mister Bird, that someone on Facebook has decided to ‘borrow’ your superhero alignment poster thingies you did.
Now that I finally know the lyrics to this song, I think it’s the lament of a champion Civilization II player whose girlfriend got fed up and left him.

Through the Fire and the Flames
I’d seen the Fire and Flames one, but I think this is better. Man, that would drive me insane.

There’s tons of this stuff. Some of them do it directly from sheet music, like this version of One-winged Angel
