This whole gay marriage debate just goes to show that the right-wingers care more about the participants of a marriage ceremony than they do about the actual oath.. which may explain why the spousal abuse and the divorce rates are so much higher in the conservative areas of the USA.

The actual ruling by the California Supreme Court was pretty much what was required by the circumstances. Unless the anti-Prop 8 guys were ready to pull out the 14th Amendment (which would be inadvisable at this point), there wasn’t much wiggle room.

If there’s any consolation, 50%+1 is all that’s required for repeal.

Particularly stupid satire, if you ask me. Sexuality has nothing to do with singing, or even with praising God. Sexuality has everything to do with marriage. So there.

Funny, I was taught marriage had to do with a personal and emotional commitment to loyalty for life.

Well at least he’s not attacking the court. The number of people who have already forgotten how gay marriage was legalised in California is quite worrying.

I have to agree with SC. While it certainly doesn’t mean I have to be happy about it, it seems that with the framework of the arguments in the case, the supreme court had not other option. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in 2010 now.

To this day, my stepdad’s mom insists that Liberace was straight as a very straight manly man who could only enjoy consensual intercourses with extremely straight womanly women. The Man will never be able to legislate DENIAL.

Tetris, some religious people see enjoying married sex as a way of praising god (see whatever damn book I was handed rather than my dad talking to me about the subject like someone with testicles). So this is very good satire.
