Well, I’m guessing from the hat, Donald’s somewhere in India and attempting to obtain some kidnapped tigers for someone (off panel) and as a result the situation has gotten out of hand and someone is looking to shoot Donald with a buckshot shotgun.

I can guess that Donald is in mortal danger because of the way the background looks like a fried egg, which I can only guess resembles an cannibalized abortion to a duck.

How close am I?

Long story short, Donald is about to be weighed, and if he weighs less than 100 pounds of diamonds, the evil king of a neighboring country will foreclose on part of the local tiger reserve. It’s from Maharajah Duck.

Well, if weemadarthur is right, there’s little point in my guessing… but I had assumed that Donald was being asked to throw himself to the defense of a tiger about to be shot or somesuch. Alternately, there were a bunch of picky eater tigers declining to eat a side of venison, and someone asked Donald to eat the bit with the buckshot in it, so to encourage the tigers without eating a part of it they’d want.

Just a comic guess, of course.

Also, Zenrage: technically fried eggs wouldn’t be cannibalized abortions, because the eggs we eat haven’t been fertilized. If you get a fertilized egg, if I recall correctly, there are streaks of blood through it, which tends to remove from the appeal slightly. No, to a duck, a fried egg is eating chicken menstruation. Take that as you will.

I don’t see how this is particularly complicated. What’s going on in this panel is fairly obvious:

1. Donald does not care if he does.
2. Donald will not eat buckshot.
2a. Corollary: Not for anyone’s tigers.

That can’t be Donald Duck. I understand what he’s saying.

I knew the panel immediately, and it makes perfect sense in context.

If you like comedy-adventure for all ages, you should be reading Carl Barks’ Duck comics, because there are lots of brilliant panels like this.

weemadarthur is correct and I didn’t even need to check my big book o’ Donald Duck cartoons to be sure.

In the next page he still refuses to eat buckshot, instead rushing to a water pipe to drink several pounds’ worth of water, not knowing it’s actually a propane valve, causing him to float. If this startling display of physics aggravates you, try to remember the talking duck is, for some reason, now in India.

Didn’t this comic also involve Huey, Dewey, and Louie blowing square bubbles? Or was that elsewhere in the book?
