You don’t have any six year old copies of people’s wedding videos in there anywhere do you?

Whatever doesn’t get traded off, I’d recommend taking whatever’s leftover to one of the BMV used bookstores in T.O. They’ll take everything and give you a third (or maybe a quarter?) of whatever they would sell it for. At least that’s what they did the last time I culled my collection. Not the return on investment you might have been hoping for when you first bought Nick Fury vs Shield, but better than nothing…

I would like Settlers of Catan and A Century of Sex. I will give you…
– Large colourful art history textbooks
– Framed art prints (gotta run this by the old man)
– A pair of men’s black coverall overalls that could easily be turned into a Waluigi Hallowe’en costume.
– A home made apple pie.

If it weren’t a laptop I’d be tempted – I despise laptops. That on’s obviously donatable though, but you don’t need me telling you that.

Interesting that your libraries won’t take donations that way – I don’t know if it’s a different climate there or what, but the local military base library is *full* of comics, almost all if not all of which were donated. And by full I mean they have at least a couple bookshelves of just floppies in boxes. It’s really neat.

I don’t want the overalls. Turn them into cookies of some kind and you might have a deal.

More like a sixth. I know BMV well, but they’re last resort.

I want that laptop, even if it’s a Mac. :p

Too bad any possible trades would be killed by shipping costs. Why are you in Canadia dammit!

ReplyReply
mygif

Actually, the only things I could trade for that laptop are:

The Busby Berkeley Collection (musical DVDs, box is beat up but the discs are fine)
4 Monty Python DVDs (but you already have these, I bet).

ReplyReply
mygif

I know Goodwill here takes comics. Every once in a while you’ll see a big box filled with comics(usually early image stuff) going for .50 each. That way you could take a tax deduction for all that stuff. You’d have to wipe the HD on the laptop, though.

ReplyReply
mygif

Schmeh. I’m OK with BMV ripping me off because I’m really not getting anything for my stuff anyway, short of hawking them one by one on Ebay or Craigslist. They’re nice enough about it if you’re realistic.

I’m really surprised libraries don’t take donations. They circulate their material among the *general public* — that’s anyone who walks in off the street. And they’re afraid of … mould?

Tell me your favourite cookie and I will make it!
I’m a better cook than I am a baker, too, so if you want a deep dish lasagna or something that can also be arranged.

Oh God, Starman and The Invisibles. Why can’t I be in range of most of my stuff?

Would I go to hell for trading a complete, leather-bound set of the works of William Shakespeare for those two?

If nobody else offers anything material for those cookbooks, I’ll take ’em off your hands. I’ll pay shipping, too.

Too bad I just gave ten bags of books and comics to Saint Vincent de Paul, or I’d trade for the New Frontier and Bone Sharps.

That is a nice list! For the following items:

Invincible vol 1
1963
Starjammers (yes please the Warren Ellis one)
Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers Omnibus
DC New Frontier

I can offer you the following books:
Dictionary of Scientific Literacy
Almanac of Alien Encounters (Eric Elman)
China White (Peter Maas)
My First Presidentiary: A Scrapbook By George W Bush (Modern Humorist)
Merlin Book of Logic Puzzles (Margaret C. Edmiston)
The Bourne Identity (Robert Ludlum)
Savage Love (Dan Savage)

Also, a giant psychology textbook that’s a year old. Everything’s a paperback in reading condition except the
Almanac, which is a pristine hardcover. I may have more to post later, but this is my initial list.

Oh, man, I know a 9 year old who would love the Untold Tales of Spiderman and the Ultimate Spidey trades. (Well, really only vols. 2-8, since I already gave him vol. 1). I’ll need to check at home tonight and see what I can come up with to offer you in return.

Just for the sake of anyone looking at these: “Finder: Sin-Eater” is a REALLY REALLY GOOD indie comic that tragically few people have heard of. It’s well worth picking up. (I already have it, so I’m not looking to trade for it, but y’know. Just wanted to put that out there for others.)

ReplyReply

Hm. Well, here’s what I’m interested in:
Marvel Knights 4 v1
She-Hulk v1&2
Avengers: World’s Greatest
Spider-Man 101 Ways to end the Clone Saga.

And here’s what I can offer:
Nonfiction:
Charlatan, by Pope Brock
Triangle, by David Von Drehe
Pirate Hunter, by Richard Zacks
Letters from Hollywood, by Michael Moorcock

Hardback Fiction:
Bones of the Earth, by Michael Swanwick
Mad Merlin, by J. Robert King
Gardens of the Moon, by Steven Erikson

Paperback Fiction:
Glimpses, by Lewis Shiner
Empire of Bones, by Liz Williams
Eon, by Greg Bear
The Eyes of God, by John Marco

Used Paperbacks:
The Magus, by John Fowles
The Helliconia Trilogy, by Brian Aldiss
The Riddle-Master of Hed Trilogy, by Patricia A. McKillip

Any of those float your boat?

Y’know, I gave my copies of Finder away, so I need to replace ’em. Stuff I have for trade:

Charlie Huston’s “Joe Pitt casebooks”

Steven Boyett’s “Ariel”

and John Levitt’s “Dog Days” and “New Tricks”.

Since I live in Arizona, we’d have to ship it all, tho.

Thomas Friedman’s “The World is Flat”

I have a well-nigh bottomless supply of skull potholders, but I’m not sure if those interest anyone but me.

I’m interested in:

Marvel Knights 4 vol. 1
Mage: the Hero Discovered vol. 1
She-Hulk vols. 1-2

I can offer you something, but I’m not sure if you are interested: typography letters from the early 20th century (the earliest ones are from the 1920’s, I think, up until 1950’s). Made out of lead and some other materials I can’t quite remember, these things were made in Germany if I’m not mistaken, and used in a honest-to-god printing press before everything went digital. I could get you either your full name or “MightyGodKing” or whatever else you want (there’s also several fonts). They make for a really cool customized desk ornament or paperweight. You can technically use it to stamp your name, but most inks do not stick to the metal properly.

Also, before committing, I would have to find out how much shipping it to you would cost, because the international rates may be too much.

I’m interested in that Starman collection. I can trade you any of the following:

-A high-quality Hunter Rose Grendel print signed by Matt Wagner, approximately 2 feet by 2.5 feet in size.

Transmetropolitan trade paperback “Year of the Bastard”, signed by Darick Robertson.

-Box sets of the first two seasons of Six Feet Under

-A 1920s straight razor in perfect, usable condition.

-Original editions of the AD&D Monster Manual, Player’s Handbook, and Dungeon Master’s Guide. That’s first edition with the chunky cover art, the prostitute encounter table, and the dungeon-crawl randomization table, and it will HURT to part with these.

Combinations of the above are also possible, of course.

I’d really like the Invicible book, but I’m not sure what I have that you want.

‘Bout the only comic trade I’m looking at is Sleeper: Out In the Cold (Ed Brubaker).

I have about a bazillion books, though…what are your interests? A few off my shelf you might like:

The Disappearance, by Philip Wylie
Les Miserables, Victor Hugo
Inside Straight (Wild Cards novel), by George R.R. Martin

(all paperback)

Name some titles, I might have it.

I’ll make offers for Question and New Frontier after work, when I can see my stuff. Shipping between Missouri and you will likely suck.

I’m interested in Egypt, 1963, Brat Pack, the Golden Age of Paleontology book, the Laboratory Journal of Doctor Frankenstein.

Do you want a box set of the Lord of the Rings books, the classic Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, The Boys From Brazil by Ira Levin, and The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra movie?

I go to York University.

A photo filled biography of Anne Boleyn by Norah Lofts

I’m interested in the Death and Deadpool comics, The Walking Dead, Wasteland, Superman: Braniac and possibly the laptop. In exchange I am willing to part with:

Magic 2010 cards. I got back into drafting after a 10 year hiatus and have a decent collection after participating in 6 or 7 drafts. Mythic rares include Chandra, Hellkite, Master of Wild Hunt. I’d happily trade singles, or 4-5 drafted decks that are all fairly balanced against one-another.

Boardgames: Check out http://www.boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/guyincorporated

Hit “filter”, go to Trade and select ‘yes’. That’s my tradelist. The ones I’m most interested in trading are: Dungeon Twister, Gloom, Lunch Money, Star Munchkin + The Clown Wars expansion and the Carcassonne expansions.

board and card games:

I dumped 8 long boxes of comics when I moved, by the simple method of finding a friend on LJ who lived in a reasonable distance, and saying: Want them? You have to take it all.

Made it her problem.

In exchange?…well, I could send you an Italian miniseries called: “The Snow doesn’t care”. It’s really nice. I made a review about it on You Tube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8QHYNj70vk

Yeah, they’re in italian, but the art is superb! =D

Okay, let’s make a deal.

I Want:
TRADES
Superman: Emperor Joker
DC: The New Frontier vols. 1, 2
The Walking Dead vols. 1, 2
Mage: the Hero Discovered vol. 1
COMICS
The Kents 1-12
Jay and Silent Bob 1-4 Clerks: The Comic, Clerks: The Lost Scene, Clerks Holiday Special
The Question 1-36, Annuals 1, 2, Question Quarterly 2-4, The Question Returns, Azrael + The Question
Batman/Aliens, Superman/Aliens
BOOKS
How To Lose Friends and Alienate People by Toby Young

I’ll Trade You:
BOOKS
X-Men: The Ultimate Guide – Essentially, a nerdy coffee table book that saves you from hitting Wikipedia, encourages debate and discussion at parties and retails for $25.00
A Long Way Down (paperback) – Nick Hornsby
Good, darkly funny read described on the back of the book jacket as “The Breakfast Club rewritten by Beckett”.

TRADES
You Are Here – Standalone GN by Kyle Baker, fun read.
Ultimate X-Men, Vol. 2: Return To Weapon X – Millar and Kubert. Got this as a gift, been looking to sell this for a while.
Ex Machina, Vol. 1 – Usually love BKV but this just didn’t do it for me.

DVD
Ultimate Avengers, The Movie – Still in plastic. Another gift I would happily trade you.

FOOD
Mexican Potato Chips – Pick your poison, I can get you bags of Salsa, Jalapeno Cheddar or Guacamole flavored chips. The Salsitas are a personal favorite of mine.
Japanese Candy – I live near a Japanese supermarket and can get you Pocky or flavored Japanese gummies. I highly recommend the Kiwi and Peach flavored gummies.

I especially want the Emperor Joker, DC: The New Frontier and Walking Dead trades the most, so if you want to cut some sort of deal for just those, that’d be okay too.

I want Transmet, since I’ve read all of Ellis’s stuff but own only the first volume of Fell and Crooked Little Vein.

I don’t have many things of value, but I can offer you a selection of Israeli snacks. Including, if I can find it, a kosher bacon-flavored one. They’d be about a kilo in all, maybe a little less, since they do charge by weight. Oh, and I’d pay for your shipping.

Also, I’ve amassed a bunch of movies not available on DVD, so if there are any such movies you haven’t been able to find, let me know.

Hey, I’d be willing to take the laptop and Lobo books off your hands for the equal weight in Stikfas.
They’re all out of package so I can’t guarantee you’d get every accessory that goes with every figure but I bought multiples of most of them, never lost an accessory and am willing to hand over the one dunebuggy I have. I also won a contest so I’ve an exclusive peach chikfa I can give too.
(I coined the phrase here: http://www.stikfas.com/news05_march.html
If you’d like the signed book I still have that

ReplyReply

I’d trade some paintings and prints for the laptop. 😉

ReplyReply

Oh, with regard to my previous bid (#18), I can also up to $40 Canadian (hey, that’s a trade, right?) and a random greeting card of questionable merit.

ReplyReply

If “Spider-Man 101 Ways To End The Clone Saga” is still available, I’ll offer this in exchange for it, and possibly–but not necessarily–another single issue of something else to be determined later. (I’m sure there’s something else I’d like on this list, but I’d need to know who’d written most of this stuff in order to know what I wanted and what I didn’t. I know I want the Clone Saga thing because I originally read most of it on Scans Daily and liked it.)

I’m also surprised to learn that comic shops won’t take them off your hands. My LCS hasn’t turned down anything I’ve brought them in the past.

ReplyReply

If most comics stores are like the one I work at, they’re probably not buying tons of comics, especially relatively recent ones (like these), due to the shitty economy.
