Is it supposed to feel like it’s moving at a glacial pace, or is that merely a side-effect of reading an epic story at the rate of one page a week?

(I don’t mean to sound negative, as I’m very much enjoying it, but I don’t know of a better way to ask that question. To balance out the criticism with something positive: unlike some other page-a-week comics I’ve read, the between-page flow is good–I only rarely or never feel like I must’ve missed a page or two in between installments.)

The latter.

Is there any room in the script for a “Find the hidden kittens” page? You should think about that.

So I take it this means there aren’t any non-human races in the Al’ Rashad setting? A pity. I was looking forward to seeing some jinn, or maybe a peri.

[Intentionally vague answer].

“what if Lord of the Rings didn’t have fantasy races substituting in for different cultures, wasn’t slightly racist, and also was kind of different from Lord of the Rings,”

Just pointing out that Tolkien held no stock in what he called the “pernicious and wholly unscientific race doctrine.” If LotR is “slightly racist,” then it’s because it was written in the 1950s, and people are far more sensitive to anything that could be remotely construed as racist.

It’s fantastic that we’ve made significant strides in regards to equal opportunities, but to look down on someone’s work for the crime of being a product of his time is pretty myopic and intolerant in itself. Not saying that’s what’s happening here, but it irks me that people reduce the black vs white dynamic in LotR to a simplistic racial dichotomy.
