I’m still burned out from last night’s debate coverage so it’s time for another one of these: what would people like me to write about? (As usual, no requests for “I should write X.”)
Additionally, if anybody has any old Battletech miniatures lying around that they don’t want, email me and we’ll discuss ’em: I’m getting back into the game.

Rob Granito…or better yet, how plagiarism-for-profit affects the convention scene and how the convention scene affects the industry.
Do you believe that ‘The Simpsons’ has jumped the shark? If not, why not? If so, when and why did it happen?
I just finished season 1 of the new Dr. Who and I’m hooked. The Who covereage here was one reason I checked it out so I’d like to see more about the show, maybe a comparison of it with one or more of the US Sci-Fi franchises (Star Trek being the obvious one) and how Dr. Who survives despite near-constant changes in the lead and supporting players. Other than the Tardis nothing remains the same but it still feels like the same show. That’s a pretty impressive bit of reinventing.
I remember reading that the UK does their TV writing differently than the US. In the US there’s a team of writers who cooperate on each episode and are on salary while the UK has one writer per episode usually a freelancer. How does that affect results?
I support any idea that means more writing on Dr. Who. But I’m not looking to form a coaltion! Honestly!
The age old debate of ameritrash v Euro.
I still don’t understand why Elizabeth May has been consistently excluded from the Ameritrash v. Euro debate.
(But I’d love to see more board game stuff!)
Why can’t certain Canadian pop-culture/political blogger/lawyers ever update their blogroll?
@Kid Kyoto: Just to be sure, do you mean season 1 or season fnarg?
It seems like a number of sitcoms – How I Met Your Mother, The Office, maybe 30 Rock – are getting a little long in the tooth. What is it about the 5th season (or so) that causes these comedies to take a turn for the worse?
Since Kyoto said the “new” Dr. Who I assume he means the Eccleston season. But I could be wrong, I suppose, it’s all very timey-wimey.
I’d love to see some more Movies You Should See columns, and maybe some reposts of your first few, which I haven’t been able to find (I thought I heard you did a Strange Days one, which is a personal favorite and I’d be very interested in seeing your thoughts on it).
You should write about the Red Skull. I dunno, I feel like he wouldn’t be so prominent if he was just “generic Nazi with a red skull”, but I can’t see anything past the character but that.
“@Kid Kyoto: Just to be sure, do you mean season 1 or season fnarg?”
???
The one from the 2000s with Rose and doctor in the leather coat.
About to start season 2, I wonder how my interest will hold up with a new lead.

How can I ask you to write about something without, you know, asking you to write about something? No fair!
Well, I once said you should do something about the Mandarin and Iron Man’s rogues gallery in general, which I thought might be interesting. I thought this namely because you seemed to think the Mandarin really deserved the slot of “archnemesis” and I disagreed.
I dunno, I’ve been wondering how on Earth they might adapt a Fu-Manchu/Dr. Doom knockoff for the third movie, and I thought a comic nerd far bigger than me (like yourself) would have more insight.
Wings! Write about Wings!
The band, the sitcom, and the body part.
Do you think the debates actually change anyone’s mind on who they vote for? Or are they just fodder for journalists?
If you had to design a digest style comic for the American market, independent of any existing properties, what kinds of concerns would you have and what angles would you try and play up?

It’s been one year(ish): what’s the verdict on Paul Levitz on the Legion?
(My two cents: it seems like pure nostalgia, because his storytelling is so non-decompressed it’s exactly like his style was in the late ’80s, but it’s so jarring taken in the context of most contemporary books. Doesn’t mean I don’t like it, but it’s just…odd.)
What is the future of table top roleplaying as a genre and/or business? Is it dying off? And if so what can be done to open the hobby up more?
Why are there so many songs about rainbows?!? WHY, DAMMIT?!!???!!!!
Could you articulate why Marvel’s Thor leaves you cold? Jack Kirby + Norse Mythology has always seemed to me to be an infinitely winning equation, and I agree with Chris Sims about Walt Simonson’s run on Thor being one of the greatest works in comics history. Your tastes and mine seem to sync up thoroughly enough that this disparity puzzles me a bit.
More importantly, Die, what IS on the other side? More rainbows?
I think that it would be interesting to hear your take on the debt crisis in regards to the national governments, particularly the US and the EU.
On the other side of rainbows is the house of a guy named Roy G. Biv. He lives off of the residuals from the songs he writes, and uses the morphic resonance influence endowed by rainbow power to get them recorded all the time. He is a sinister man.
I’d love to see your alignment charts for a) political figures and b) Discworld characters.
More Alignment Charts! From properties both ubiquitously familiar and hopelessly obscure!

Runaways. It’s the must amazing thing ever to ever be left for death because no one else knew how to write any non-pride related stories..
Reasons why I should write runaways:
Do it
Agree on Iron Man’s villains, and a vote for considering Alpha Flight’s villains.
Underappreciated Doctor Who companions – Turlough, Martha, Harry. Or maybe just weighing up who was the best foil for the 4th Doctor – Sarah, Leela or Romana II?
As a change from the focus on national politics and to intersect with a popular choice, how about an alignment chart of sorts for Canadian provinces?
Is Chris Sims your nerd-blog arch-nemesis? Will there be a final battle between Rex the Motherfucking Wonder Dog and that fat Herbie kid with his lollipop?
I would like to hear your thoughts on various remakes and re-visionings of older cartoons. Which worked? Which didn’t? What needs to be done to make a good remake? Example; 2011 remake of My Little Pony versus 1990s remake of Ponies, or Transformers Prime versus Transformers Classic.
Would The Fantastic Four be better served if dropped into SF and disaster movies than superhero movies?
Token request that you look into Sonic comics. If you don’t want to slog through back issues (it starts at #160 and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise) 225 will be a sorta-reboot.
The Jaws franchise vs. the Tremors franchise?
Last time someone asked you if you were homosexual. While I don’t have issues with any sexual orientation, I am curious.
Also, I’d like to know what you think should be done about future Granitos.
Lastly, who will win the Stanley Cup? Do you think the Canucks will take it?
I wouldn’t mind seeing a new “Why I Should Write…” column. Or a few allignment charts for good Canadian TV shows, like Little Mosque or Corner Gas. Y’know, just to alienate your American readers further.
And while we’re at it, what are your thoughts about the new Jays lineup?
And speaking of the election, while I’m not gonna ask which way you’re voting (’cause that’s really none of my business), were you planning to base your vote on the leaders’ performance, or more on the race for your local MP? (Personally, I’m going with the latter.)
How do you think the Muppets have fared (as a property) since the death of Jim Henson?
El Tyrano Magnifico!

Have you read the Honor Harrington series by David Weber?
How would you end the falsely-spurred sense of elitism among comics and sf/f fans (If I hear ONE MORE Cat Piss Man referring to non-fans as “Mundanes” …) and redirect the sense of entitlement into a coalition which would translate into a bloc which could exercise true charitable, economic, social, and even political power?
(Don’t pooh-pooh it right away; remember that sf cons now mostly have onsite blood drives, and the need for same is well-publicized among sf/f fans because Robert Heinlein publicized the National rare Blood Club in one of his novels and proselytized for it at many conventions …)
(And try to forget that Newt Gingrich fancies himself a science-fiction author …)
Random Ideas:
1. The five things you are most and least looking forward to about the 2012 Presidential Race.
2. Reasons why you’ve gone into law.
3. I haven’t read mainstream comics since the clusterfuck that was Final Crisis. Could you point people like me towards a quick recap that makes even a little sane sense?
Just read how Blob Ford wants to cut a whole bunch of committees that advocate things like cycling and walking and children’s safety, in the name of cost-cutting. Oh, and these committees have no budget and the members are volunteers.
How about a column on which comic book villain he most resembles? I vote for the Penguin (Batman Returns version).
