Is it just me, or is Frankenstein on Drums the most delightful thing about this video?

It’s wonderful, but I think it’s actually too weird to really go large-scale memetic. Plus it lacks the key ingredient that made Gangnam Style a success: it can be imitated recognizeably in moments by people of little or no skill.

Not only is this more complex, but if I saw somebody doing these moves I think I’d just assume Lady Gaga had abandoned pretentiousness and embraced the fun side of her schtick. Even though that’s impossible.

I bet this’d go farther under the name “Fashion Monster,” though, since that’s what they keep repeating in the chorus.

…oh, there it is in English on the title bar mostly out of view. Never mind.

Well, this is serendipitous. My New Year’s Resolution was to find out what would happen if a J-Pop recording artist made a music video about the Addams Family.

Although now I’ll have to find some other pursuit to occupy my free time.

You forget, it can’t just be merely weird, there’s been hundreds of thousands of weird foreign videos prior to Gangnam Style. It needs to be catchy and stylish as well to be truly meme-worthy.

It really just seems par for the course for Japan.
