I think you crashed the Torontoist site for a minute there.
Is there anyway we can get it both ways? Can this man be revealed to have been smoking the crack and can the entire clickbaity horror that is the Gawker Network be destroyed under a tsunami of crushing legal bills?
Cause I’d like to see that happen.
I’ve gotta say, Cory Doctorow’s unrelenting attitude of referring to the Toronto Mayor as Laughable Bumblefuck never fails to amuse me.
Unlike Mr Ford’s actual ‘adventures’, which make me deeply sympathetic to the city.
Holy crap, if that was Chris Farley with the football I’d have said he was overselling the pratfall.
The hike-left, hike-right just makes the pratfall that much better…
I swear I can hear the “WAAAUUUGHH!!” every time he falls.
You might find this link to the legal blog PopeHat, on the topic of that threat to Gawker, amusing.

Very, very thorough. I think you’re right. The Star took every step required to move ahead with the story.
Isn’t it odd, from his mutterings and those of his supporters that from all the threats of libel and lawsuits… that Tweedledum never, ever follows through on it….
For a brief moment, I thought that had to be Gerald Ford with the football.
I’m old.
I love the football GIF. Here, have some Rob Ford meeting camera:

Excellent analysis, MGK. Based on your article, it seems Ford doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
And to think, while this is going on in Canada a vast majority of Americans are outraged at the way Obama ties his shoelaces. Well, that’s what the Beltway punditry would have us believe…

That clip and the walking into the camera debacle never, ever gets old.
