I think it’s fair to say that one of the reasons Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s freshman season is so good is because those other shows you mention came before it and the people working on it took damn good notes. After all, creator Daniel J. Goor was a writer for Parks and Rec, and the other creator, Michael Schur, was one of Parks and Rec’s creators. (And he played Mose on the Office! I had no idea.)
But yeah, it’s been a really, really good first season. All of the actors are reliably funny, and with recognizable personalities. And it’s a prime-time network comedy that has TWO black guys in its ensemble cast! *All other comedies look at their feet, except New Girl.* And the black guys have consistent characters that don’t seem to be the writers flinging things at the wall and seeing what sticks! *New Girl looks at its feet.*
